What you can expect

Welcome to the world’s first museum! The Capitoline Museum has a fascinating collection of art and artefacts all telling the fascinating history of Rome.

In 1734 Pope Clementine XII decided to make a significant collection of artwork and ancient sculptures permanently accessible to the people of Rome. With this magnanimous act, he created the world's first museum - it's on top of one of the Seven Hills of Rome, overlooking the Ancient Roman Forum. It's a melting pot of history.

See the famous she-wolf sculpture featuring Rome's founders Romulus and Remus, and see a treasure chest of items telling the storey of Rome, the ancient Caput Mundi.

Complete lack of instructions as to how to get to meeting point. Long, complicated walk from recommended metro stop. Locals consulted weren’t even sure where address was. By comparison, worked with different tour company to visit Vatican Museum and that company spot on with directions to meeting point. Capitoline Museum itself great, but Expedia gets no credit for that.

The museum itself is a must-see and it's near impossible to just go up and get tickets or buy them directly so this was the only alternative. HOWEVER, the hosted part was a real joke. I went all the way up the hill only to find I had to climb back down again and up a couple blocks to wait in line 10-15 minutes to get a ticket from some company -_-....That was the hosted aspect I guess. I wish that would have been conveyed when I booked, I assumed that the validation bar code was the ticket as it has been for other similar experiences. If there's another option for Capitoline, seriously book it. If this is the only option, then know what it is going in!
