What you can expect
This half day city tour will show you the rich diversity of the city with lovely beaches, mountains, historical sites, museum, Palace, fruit farms and markets.
The first place will be Sultan Qaboos Mosque, the largest mosque in Salalah named after the last King of Oman. This i the largest mosque in southern part of the country and the Islamic architecture is unique and appealing to the eyes.
After mosque, you will see Al Hosn Palace (Palace of King) passing by as the entrance to the palace is not permitted.
The next stop is Haffa Souq - a traditional market that sells perfumes, clothes, souvenirs and the famous Frankincense, at the shores of Haffa Beach, with white sand beach and coconut trees. Why not grab a coconut from the nearby Fruit Huts (cost of drink on your own).
Next place on the itinerary will be Al Baleed Archaeological site, an open air Archaeological site across the Arabian Sea and a UNESCO World Heritage site, with an inhouse museum - The Museum of Frankincense Land. It is an indoor museum at the Archaeological park, which hosts Artefacts excavated from archaeological sites, Governorate of Dhofar's historical and archaeological heritage and Superb models of Omani boats from 3000 BC to current. Entrance is OMR 3 per person and is not included.
Before ascending to the mountains, you can see Salalah Gardens Mall, another stop for shopping and it is a modern mall, so you can experience the modern shopping experience in Salalah. On the way to the mountains, you will see the traditional Omani food restaurants that cook delicious grills, shawarma and burgers with camel meat. A part from camel meat, food cooked on stones are also served. If you are a meat lover, you must stop here to task the local cuisines. Food price is not included in the tour.
Ayn Jarziz, and Ittin Mountains are two other attractions in the Dhofar mountain, and make you experience the mountain life and culture in Dhofar. In the mountain, the tomb of Prophet Ayub (also known as Prophet Job), is located, who is a prophet mentioned in the Bible and Quran and is the one who is respected by Jews, Christians and Muslims..
In Summary, this local experience is priceless. You will see the mountain, beach, mosque, museum, traditional shopping souq, modern shopping centre, traditional Omani food restaurants, fruit hut and local life.
