Activity itinerary

Windermere (Pass by)
After departure from your desired location Bowness Pier Cruises Ticket Sales Office or Windermere Railway Station, our four hour six lakes tour will visit some of the most popular and scenic tourist attractions in the Lake District. Our six lakes tour places its focus on the Northern side of the Lake District and it is perfect for those who want to enjoy the outstanding scenery the National Park has to offer. Our tour will allow you to enjoy our selected six lakes, including Windermere, Brotherswater, Ullswater, Thirlmere, Grasmere Lake, and Rydal Water.
Kirkstone Pass
  • 15m
Following our departure, we will make our way over the famous Kirkstone Pass. Kirkstone Pass stands proud at 1,489 feet making it the highest tarmac road in the National Park, therefore offering the most spectacular views back at The Lake Windermere and Morecombe Bay in the distance. As we make our way you will also be able view the beautiful Troutbeck Valley, which was once the home to Children's author Beatrix Potter. Location: Independent 90% | Assisted 10% | Time allocated: 15 Minutes | Walking difficulty: Very easy
Brothers Water (Pass by)
Brothers Water is a small lake in the Hartsop valley in the eastern region of the Lake District in England. Once called Broad Water, it lies at the northern end of Kirkstone Pass, affording views on the descent towards Patterdale. Location: ( Pass by without stopping )
Ullswater
  • 15m
The Lake District tour then travels on to Ullswater. Ullswater is the second largest lake in the Lake District, being approximately 9 miles long, it has also been described as the most beautiful lake in England. Referring to William Wordsworth, it was Glencoyne Park at Ullswater that gave him the inspiration to write his most famous poem, Daffodils. Location: Independent 90% | Assisted 10% | Time allocated: 15 Minutes | Walking difficulty: Very easy
Castlerigg Stone Circle
  • 30m
As our tour continues following plenty of scenery and approximately 20 minute journey we arrive at the Castlerigg Stone Circle. Castlerigg is perhaps the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop. It is also among the earliest British circles, raised in about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period. Location: Independent 80% | Assisted 20% | Time allocated: 30 Minutes | Walking difficulty: Easy (gradual uneven incline)
Thirlmere (Pass by)
Our tour returns south alongside Thirlmere. Thirlmere spans some 3.5 miles long and 1.2 miles wide and it was originally two smaller lakes, which were purchased by Manchester City Cooperation Waterworks back in 1889. The area was then given a dam, whose greatest height is 104 feet, and the area became one vast reservoir. The reservoir is surrounded with impressive views, including Helvellyn and Dollywagon Pike and it offers an unrivalled scenic route. Location: ( Pass by without stopping )
Grasmere
  • 45m
As we continue towards Windermere, we will make our final stop in Grasmere. The home of William Wordsworth and Grasmere Gingerbread. Grasmere is probably one of Cumbria's most popular villages, with buildings that date from the 13th century and farms even older! It is here where you can visit William Wordsworth's grave, which is situated in St Oswald's Church on the bank of the river Rothay. The graveyard is also next to Sarah Nelson's Grasmere Gingerbread shop that's certainly worth visiting. Sarah Nelson invented this Gingerbread back in 1854 and the recipe remains the same today! Location: Independent 90% | Assisted 10% | Time allocated: 45 Minutes | Walking difficulty: Easy
Rydal Water (Pass by)
After departing Grasmere, we make our way towards Rydal where you will enjoy the view over Rydal Water. This small lake has become very popular with visitors of Rydal Caves and those who enjoy the work and former home of William Wordsworth. Location: ( Pass by without stopping )
