Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress

Pickup from the Airport three-hour transfer to Sigiriya. This ancient city is now a premier eco-tourism destination in Sri Lanka. You'll quickly see why when you arrive at Sigiriya Rock Fortress, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. Translated to "Lion Rock" in English, the name of the monument is taken from the route that visitors use to begin their final ascent to the top: through the open giriya (throat) of a sinha (lion). The topography of the area is flat except for the massive rock outcrop of the fortress itself, which rises an incredible 660 feet (200 m) from the jungle below. Visitors can climb the 1,200 steps to explore one of the best-preserved examples of ancient urban planning. Make sure to look for the colourful frescoes that adorn the walls, as well as the gigantic paws sculpted into the side of the rock. Nuwara Eliya

Drive to the heart of Sri Lanka's tea country. Situated 6,200 feet (1,890 m) above sea level, the area of Nuwara Eliya has a cooler and more invigorating climate unlike anywhere else in the country (hence, ideal for growing tea). Colonised by the British and often referred to as "Little England," Nuwara Eliya retains an old-world feel. Case in point: the town is famous for horse racing and also boasts an impressive golf club, which dates back to 1889, along with several grandiose, colonial-style hotels. After visiting one of the area's tea plantations, you'll spend an afternoon relaxing at Gregory Park, a popular lake that features boating, picnicking, and horseback riding activities.

Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden

Travelling 56 km from Kandy on the Nuwara Eliya Road, you will find the Damro Labookellie Tea Lounge. It is one of the oldest tea estates in Lanka and is about 150 years old. Visiting the Damro Labookellie Tea Lounge gives you the opportunity to visit the tea factory and taste the tea for free. Also, it is the perfect place for any tired traveller to relax and get some fresh air, this is definitely a must visit place when you come to Nuwara Eliya.

Ramboda Waterfall

Ramboda Falls is 109 m (358 ft) high[1] and the eleventh tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka and the 729th tallest waterfall in the world.[2] It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass.[3] The waterfall is formed by the Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. The falls have an elevation 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level.

Board the train and experience breathtaking views of lush green tea plantations, mountains, viaducts, valleys, and dense jungle. What’s more, it’s the perfect way to experience Sri Lankan life. Ella is a paradise like highland village set on southern edge of Uva Province of Sri Lanka. Ella village of salubrious climate nestles amidst hill after hill of tea plantations bringing in panoramic views of the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. The finest view is afforded through a cleft in green hills, popularly called Ella Gap. Ella gaps drop down nearly 1000 metres over the ridge of Central Highlands to bring in a telescopic view of the Great Plains as far as the southern coast of Sri Lanka.

Nine Arches Bridge

The Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the ‘Bridge in the Sky’ was constructed by connecting two bog mountains when constructing the Badulla – Colombo railway. This bridge is 300 feet in length, 25 feet in width and 80-100 feet in height. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The Bridge can be reached by travelling 2km on Gotuwala road starting from Halpe Textile centre in Badulla Bandarawela road. The surrounding area has seen a steady increase in tourism due to the bridge’s architectural ingenuity and the profuse greenery in the nearby hillsides.

Little Adam's Peak

Little Adam's Peak is its smaller brother and a must-visit when in Ella. The hike to the top of Little Adam's Peak is fairly easy; the peak is 1141m high, so it is more of a two-hour-long leisurely walk.

Ravana Ella Falls

Ravana Falls can be mentioned as a waterfall that must visit in Ella. Hill country of Sri Lanka is quite popular for beautiful waterfalls and Ravana Falls is right at the top. The falls have been named after the legendary character Ravana, which is connected to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to legend, it is said that Ravana (who was the king of Sri Lanka at the time) had kidnapped princess Sita, and had hidden her in the caves behind this waterfall, now simply known as the Ravana Ella Cave. At the time, the cave was surrounded with thick forests in the midst of wilderness. It is also believed that Rama’s queen bathed in a pool that accumulated the water falling from this waterfall.

Mirissa Whale watching tours are extremely popular a day tour from Mirissa as you have around a 90-95% chance of seeing blue whales during the peak whale watching season, which runs from November until April/May. Although blue whales are the main attraction, if you’re lucky you’ll have the chance to see a mix of amazing marine life. Other species sometimes seen on whale watching tours from Mirissa include Bryde’s whales, sperm whales, bottlenose dolphins, orcas, turtles and more.

Kalamatiya Bird Sanctuary

Kalametiya is a coastal wetland area that has an especially rich bio-diversity, and is situated on the picturesque southeastern coast of Sri Lanka, in the district of Hambantota. It, along with Rekawa and Ussangoda, forms an area known as “Ruk,” a coastal belt of land of outstanding beauty littered with numerous bays, coves, lagoons, rocky outcrops and sandy beaches, stretching from approximately Tangalle to Hambantota. A boat ride on the lagoon is the best opportunity to spend some time bird watching if anyone wants to.

Coconut Tree Hill

Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery - Habaraduwa

Visit a Sea Turtle Hatchery on the beach, where you can experience the wonder of the these majestic and ancient creatures. The conservation efforts of these hatcheries, sometimes locally referred to as a farm, are important to the species as they rescue the eggs, that are similar to ping-pong balls, from the beach where they are vulnerable to poachers and predators. They then keep the eggs in protected sand in the hatchery so that the eggs can hatch and then they release many back into the ocean. It's nice to see what they do on the cusp of the gorgeous Indian Ocean and it can be a lovely spot for a stroll along the beach to take in the tropical atmosphere. The baby sea turtles are undeniably very cute and for many of our customers it turns out to be the memory of a lifetime when they get to hold them! Galle Dutch Fort

Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, originally built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and then further developed by the Dutch and the British over the next 350 years. It covers nearly 4sqkm and is protected by 12 bastions and connecting ramparts.

Unawatuna Beach

Unawatuna is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Sri Lanka and is the most “famous” beach in the country. It is a lovely banana-shaped beach of golden sand and turquoise water, surrounded by green palm trees!
