What you can expect

Embark on an unparalleled outback adventure with South Australia’s Outback Post Man, traversing rugged landscapes in the comfort of an air-conditioned 4x4 vehicle.

Limited to just 10 people per trip, this personalised tour begins its journey from the renowned Opal Mining town of Coober Pedy. You will be picked up and dropped off to your Coober Pedy hotel. Accompany the Outback Post Man as he delivers post to historic outback towns - Oodnadatta and William Creek – and five remote cattle stations including Anna Creek Station, the world’s largest.

Meet the legendary Bruce Ross, your charismatic Outback Post Man, who weaves an entertaining and captivating storey about the country he holds dear to his heart. Bruce and his equally enthusiastic team of guides will treat you to a day filled with insights and entertainment.

Following the footsteps of the early explorers, John McDouall Stuart and Ernest William Giles, this expedition unfolds across diverse terrains, encompassing gibber plains, red sand hills, and the once-was, ancient inland seabed. It traverses the world's longest man-made structure, the Dingo Fence, and delves into the rich history of the original Ghan Railway Line. Learn about Lake Eyre, the Great Artesian Basin, the arid land pastoral industry, Afghan camel drivers, outback fauna and flora, aboriginal heritage, and early pioneers of the region. And they say there’s nothing out here!

In Oodnadatta, take a break at the famous Pink Roadhouse, allowing ample time for a meal and exploration of the town, including a visit to the Railway Museum. Discover the significance of William Creek over a beer at the bar of the unique outback-bush pub, including memorabilia from the railway days, or check out the collection of rocket bits & pieces from the Woomera rocket range housed across the road in the heritage park.

Though there is a bit of a time frame to adhere to this tour offers flexibility and ensures stops for photos and short walks at points of interest.
