Activity itinerary

Wilmington
  • 10m
Welcome to Vermont's Scenic Route 100 Byway! We'll explore the charming landscapes of Vermont, passing through picturesque towns, lush forests, and stunning mountain views. So let’s get started! Note: This 160-mile-long tour covers the essentials of Vermont RT 100 in 3-4 hours.
Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center
  • 10m
There's another great attraction here that I know will enjoy. No trip to Stowe is complete without a visit to the Von Trapp family Lodge. It's the second biggest reason after skiing that visitors come to the area. Situated on 2500 acres this Austrian mountain beauty is run by members of the original Von Trapp family that inspired the film The Sound of Music.
Stowe Mountain Resort
  • 15m
Stowe’s main resort area is coming up, and it is impossible to miss. It’s the location where the gondola departs, but be aware that the gondola's warm weather operation only begins in mid-September, which is, of course, when foliage season really gets going.
Smugglers' Notch Resort
  • 20m
We'll soon arrive at the entrance for Smuggler’s Notch Resort, Vermont's third largest ski resort and also known as America's Family Resort.
Stowe Village Massage
  • 10m
The cosy village of Stowe is just ahead, where we will come to the junction of Route 100. If we decide to explore the village a bit we’ll turn left and go find parking.
Cold Hollow Cider Mill
  • 10m
Apple cider is a Vermont speciality and you definitely need to try it while you are here. And yes, I do have a place for that and it's coming up quickly.
Cabot
  • 10m
We are right in the middle of my favourite food lover's stretch of Route 100. There are some great places to stop and sample more of Vermont's most loved food delicacies here.
Waterbury
  • 10m
We are getting close to the town of Waterbury. One of Waterbury’s more famous tourist spots involves ice cream, but there is another mega brand business based here as well that we might also enjoy visiting.
Ben & Jerry's
  • 10m
  • Admission ticket not included
Just stay straight ahead to get to Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory. As you can imagine this is a very popular place and just about the most visited attraction in all of Vermont. Going to need you to be patient while we're here and don't be surprised if we have some short waits during the peak times of the year, where it’s summer and foliage season.
Mad River Valley
  • 10m
It looks to me like we've decided to drive Route 17 to Mad River Glen and maybe even a little further to the App Gap itself. Its less than 10 minute to the Gap, and we'll see the ski area before that.
Sugarbush Farm
  • 10m
One of Vermont's more famous ski resorts, but there are also lots of summer activities for kids of every age, even the really old kids like me.
Warren
  • 10m
It's another quirky little town and definitely worth the drive through. Driving through town will bring us back onto this road and we won't miss anything.
Robert Frost Wayside Trail
  • 10m
The Robert Frost interpretive trail for a little thoughtful, quiet time. I love it. This road will be travelling on right now, route 125 is one of the six mountain gaps or mountain passages of Vermont and very popular with the New England bicycle riding community.
Green Mountain Oasis
  • 10m
Visit the Green Mountain Cafe and Visitor Centre. You'll see the beautifully restored train station that's now the Visitor Centre, and it's at the end of the first block.
Calvin Coolidge Homestead
  • 10m
  • Admission ticket not included
The Notch cemetery where President Coolidge is buried is located on Lynn's Hill Road, coming up on our right. To skip the cemetery and go directly to the Coolidge homestead, we'll see the entrance driveway on our left as we round the curve.
Lake Rescue
  • 10m
One of the lakes in a string of four is called Lake Rescue, having had its name changed from Plymouth Lake in the 1880s.
Killington
  • 10m
That's great, I lovethis place, thanks for bringing me along. It'll be about a 4 mile drive to the Base Lodge. We can stop along the way and grab some lunch or a snack, or maybe a cup of tea or a cappuccino.
Okemo Mountain Resort
  • 20m
There's a mountain on the western side of the road that is home to the Okemo Mountain Resort, a popular ski area.
Weston Priory
  • 5m
In a couple of minutes, we'll have the opportunity to make a stop that you might not have been expecting today.
Londonderry
  • 5m
The next town, as we follow Route 100 is going to be the town of Londonderry. Londonderry, Vermont, got its name from Londonderry, New Hampshire, which got its name from Londonderry in Northern Ireland.
Jamaica State Park
  • 5m
  • Admission ticket not included
For travellers doing a thorough exploration of Vermont, it might be nice to take some time to visit Jamaica State Park.
Buttermilk Falls
  • 10m
In just about a mile will be coming to the crossroads of Route 100 and Route 103. If it's a particularly hot day, I might be able to tempt you with a quick visit to Buttermilk Falls.
