What you can expect
Experience the amazing Yellowknife City Tour! With 8+ stops, there is something for everyone in Yellowknife! With so much to see and do, the Yellowknife City Tour offers an unforgettable experience for all ages. Not only will you immerse yourself in the rich history and vibrant culture of this northern gem, but you'll also get a taste of its unique charm and natural beauty.
Once we have picked you up from your hotel or select BnB, our tour begins by proceeding to the Northwest Territory Legislature. Here, we delve into the workings of our non-partisan government and shed light on significant historical and present-day events in our area.
We will then explore the Yellowknife Historical Museum situated at the Giant Mine location to learn about our mining heritage. Your contributions at the museum are welcomed and valued.
Then we proceed on to a popular photo op at Max Ward's Bristol Freighter and the Yellowknife welcome sign!
If you're a fan of Ice Pilots, the next destination will surely impress you as we explore the Buffalo Hangar 'Home of the Ice Pilots,' and browse through their distinctive gift shop. (Hanger not available on Saturday-Sunday).
A visit to Yellowknife wouldn't be complete without exploring the local wildlife. We visit Nature's North Wildlife Gallery “home of a Grolar or Pizzly, a cross between a polar bear and grizzly bear”, to discover a variety of Northwest Territory species north of the 60th parallel.
Later, we'll watch a brief film at the NWT Diamond & Jewellery Centre to discover why Yellowknife is known as the 'Diamond Capital of North America'.
Have you heard about quirky Old Town Yellowknife? It is often called the heart of Yellowknife and is a charming historical neighbourhood.
During the winter months from January to March, there is an opportunity for us to drive on the ice road and visit the ice castle (subject to yearly weather conditions).
To conclude our tour, guests can choose to be dropped off at Old Town for further exploration, where they can savour a delightful meal at Bullocks Bistro (reservations recommended), or they can opt to be transported back to their hotel or BnB.
This tour is scheduled for 3.5 hours
For those looking for even more adventure, consider extending your stay in Yellowknife. From our aurora borealis tours to viewing the Cameron Waterfall or enjoying our wild bison tours, there are countless activities that showcase the magic of the Northwest Territories.
