Osaka Holiday Packages

Since its days as the humble rice capital of Japan, Osaka has grown into Japan's second-largest city. Its location at the mouth of the Yodo River helped the city evolve into a merchant centre, a status it has enjoyed for centuries. Today, Osaka welcomes visitors with its unique mix of bright lights, pop culture and peaceful sanctuaries—and yes, you can still devour a mean bowl of rice while you’re visiting.

Things to Do in Osaka

Osaka is a city of extremes, and if you aren't afraid of heights, check out Abeno Harukas, Japan's tallest skyscraper. The observation deck is one of Osaka's most popular destinations, and it offers a great view of the city. It's not for the faint-hearted though its glass floors welcome only the daring! Osaka Castle is a "modern" replica of the original 1580s structure, as the main tower was rebuilt in 1931. The grounds are a good location for a nice walk, or to simply take a moment to let the bustling city fade away.

The Osaka Museum of History is located just outside of Osaka Castle, and it offers visitors an interpretive history of the city with historical periods separated by floor. Originally constructed in 593 A.D., the Shitennoji Temple site is one of the most revered in Japan. A five-story pagoda, turtle sanctuary and the Golden Hall welcome tourists and visitors, while a landscaped garden with small streams and waterfalls surrounds the temple complex. The temple is an essential tourist destination, and presents a serene place to reconnect with yourself. Osaka holiday packages are a great way to see all of the major destinations, but if you’re looking to get out of town and experience the surrounding area, check out the car hire opportunities in Osaka.

Shopping, Dining & Nightlife

Looking for a perfect souvenir? The Namba district has everything you might need. In the Amerikamura ("Amemura" to locals) shopping area, you can find cutting-edge Japanese fashion and thrift stores. Looking for international brand names and traditional department stores? The Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade is located less than a kilometre from Amerikamura. With such options, you’re bound to find the right souvenir or gift for your mother-in-law.

Osaka is the place to visit if you’re up late and hungry. The neon lights of Dotonbori Street are a remnant of this area's days as an entertainment district. The atmosphere is energetic, and many restaurants are open 24 hours a day. It’s the ideal location to tuck into some local food like takoyaki and okonomiyaki. If you're out partying, why not make a fool of yourself and sing some karaoke late into the night? Stay in Dotonbori if you want to dance the night away at a nightclub, sing ’80s hits with complete strangers or take a walk along the nearby canal. With Wotif’s Osaka packages, you can book accommodation right near the best shopping, dining and nightlife options around.
