citizenM is a chain on capsule hotels. The room is a built-out stacked shipping container. The bathroom and shower are little pods in the middle of the room that offer almost no privacy. The bed is wedged in the end and can only be entered from one side. It’s very tight quarters so if you go with someone else make sure you are very comfortable with them first or you will quickly become so

Cleanliness: The cleaning service operates on a request-only basis, meaning you need to ask for your room to be cleaned and your bed sheets to be changed. Unfortunately, during my stay, my room was left without a refill of tissues, and the food tray was not taken during the cleaning. I ended up having to take the tray down to the kitchen myself. Room Service: There is no room service available. Additionally, there was no iron provided in the room. Air Conditioning: The air conditioning is centrally controlled and cannot be turned off. The highest temperature setting is 24 degrees, which still felt cold at night. Amenities: No dental kit was provided. Soap available in shower but no shelves to put your own soap in the shower. So you have to hold it whilst showering. Only two plug sockets and one is next to the sink which isn’t ideal if you want to charge your laptop. The other socket has been used for the hotel ipad in the room. Dining: The food at the bar is nice. Good selection with veggie options Room Layout: Upon entering the room, you immediately step into the area with the shower and toilet, which is a bit unusual. The beds are large, but they are accessible only from one side. Good location. Near metro and RAI conference centre. Overall: A short stay here would be fine, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a long-term stay with family.

Great hotel with easy access to the centre.
We stayed in this hotel for Amsterdam Pride as the price was far more competitive than others nearer the centre of town. I was initially concerned it felt a little far out but actually it’s really well connected to the Metro and local trams. My only issue was quite late at night once public transport finishes you are quite reliant on taxis which could be challenge getting one on busier nights. The hotel room itself was compact but very comfortable and ideal for a few days stay. The lack of wardrobe could be an issue for longer stays. Some people have commented about the toilet and the shower which are in pods in the bedroom, the latter being see through. This wasn’t an issue for us as we are partners and there was a vanity curtain you could draw across if you wanted while showering. The room is controlled all by your iPad or the app which is a nice gimmick but I would rather have switches additionally so you don’t have to mess around to do stuff. Check in was super easy and we were able to access the room nearly two hours earlier which was a bonus as we had an early start. My only negatives are the disorganised food area when my partner tried to get coffees one morning, prioritising others ahead of him when he has been waiting longer. Also the 24 food service isn’t 24 as we found out when we returned at 3am after pride. All we wanted was a pizza to help soak up some of the alcohol but your staff first said there was no pizza, then the oven was busy with breakfast prep

I recently stayed at this fantastic hotel in Amsterdam, and I couldn't be more pleased. The staff were incredibly personable, friendly, and exceptionally helpful in planning my itinerary, making my trip seamless and enjoyable. The location is perfect, within walking distance to the city center, Beatrixpark, and the train station, allowing easy access to everything Amsterdam has to offer. The quirky rooms were a delightful surprise, featuring unique decor and the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Dining options nearby were superb, with Claire's Amazing Cafe serving delicious pastries and the best coffee, yhe best Poke Perfect restaurant for lunch, and the option to dine at Melia for an exquisite dinner experience. Overall, my stay was perfect, thanks to the amazing staff and the excellent location. I can't wait to return!

The hotel is really close to transit and not too far of a walk to a growing neighborhood to the south with lots of restaurants and a supermarket. The hotel was clean, safe, and convenient, and the staff were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Will definitely stay again when we come back to Amsterdam!
