The room was dirty - with the bed sheets, shower curtain, and floors sticky and grimy. The fans were not enough to make the room have an airflow so it was though to sleep at night. The staff was very nice though.

Had an excellent stay at the Hotel Hegra. Very quiet despite being in the city center. We were on the top floor so it can get a bit warm in the room but that was no issue

Good location
Overall, a good stay in a good location. Our main objective was to see the Anne Frank house and it is only about a 10 minute walk, which was perfect for us. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. We had very little luggage which was a good thing because the stairs are very steep and narrow. I would not recommend if you have large or a lot of luggage because there is no lift. There was an issue with our shower drain and because of the tilt of the floor the whole bathroom would flood if you took a shower. Parking along the canal is very expensive so we opted for a parking garage. While there is one about 10 minutes walk away, it isn’t very well marked and took some time to find. In future, we would not come by car as driving in the city is very stressful due to the bikes, pedestrians, and narrow streets. The staff was very nice. We would stay there again if we packed light.

We had a room for 4 people which was quite big and quite a lot of floor space considering the 4 beds. The hotel is very quiet of a night and we were the first room at the stairs so we were expecting noise but it was silent. The service was lovely and the location fantastic

Everything was excellent from our arrival to our departure. The hotel really gave us an opportunity to embrace the culture of what living on a canal in a home that was built in the 1600’s with the modern amenities. It was comfortable and safe, and central to most areas we wanted to see.

the host Paulo was so kind he help us a lot to explain things to do in Amsterdam and to be more comfortable in the hotel because he stayed at 4th floor so the stair are difficult.

This hotel was excellent for its location and the helpfulness of staff. I hadn’t read the details closely enough and hadn’t seen the lack of an elevator and hence had not requested a room on low floor. We were on top (4th) floor, the staircases are circular and very narrow. We had a real ‘Dutch’ experience when our luggage was hauled via winch up the outside of building and through the window!! The area is full of restaurants and stores and all major sites are easily walkable . The view over a canal is entertaining as there is a steady stream of boats past . We would not stay again as my husband has some mobility issues but if you are fairly fit it is an excellent choice .

A beautiful heritage hotel. We highly recommend staying here. Very steep stairs with no elevator, but if you are able bodied, you couldn’t ask for a better hotel. The canal view room was spectacular! The staff is friendly & helpful. Beware taxis cancel without notice.
