NC500 Base Camp is surrounded by dense woodland, the majority of which is owned by the forestry commission, and attracts a wide array of wildlife, ranging from deer and pine marten on the ground, to numerous types of birds of prey and midges in the sky!
The renowned Falls of Shin, where leaping salmon can be seen from the viewing platform, can be heard from the pod and are just a couple of hundred metres away with established walks in all directions. Within a short walk from NC500 Base Camp there is a visitor centre. allowing dogs, open subject to seasonal opening hours. The Falls of Shin are positioned right in the heart of the North Coast 500 route making it a great base from which you can explore a truly unique landscape.
With zero light pollution and regular sitings of the northern lights in the area, along with more stars than most will see in their life, the most challenging decision of your holiday is whether to relax inside or out!
