Travelled with family and small children
18 June 2024
We've stayed here previously when visiting Boston and had a good experience, but after this visit, I don't think we'll book here again.
The room was clean and reasonably nice (although the air was very loud and hard to set), and the location is great for Brookline. However, the evening front desk staff was really unhelpful.
The fold-out sleeper couch in our room did not have sheets, so my husband went down to the front desk to get them. The person working would not give bedding directly to my husband despite his request, so we had to wait for the sheets to be delivered - keeping our child up late. When housekeeping came, all we were given was a single king-size top sheet (for a double bed). We had to go and ask for more bedding and were given a comforter with no cover on it and a grungy, scratchy blanket that looked like something sold by an army surplus store and then never washed. It was honestly shocking how gross that blanket was.
While there are certainly worse things that could happen, I expect a certain standard of service at a Marriott - and in general at a nice hotel in a large city with many hotel options. Next time we're in the Boston area we'll avail ourselves of a hotel that can be bothered to care about its customers' experience.
