Accommodation In Massachusetts\n

Massachusetts is a fascinating place to be, both past and present! Its history includes everything from the American Revolution to witch trials, and today it’s filled with fun activities. It’s capital Boston is a great city to start your journey, but take a trip around Massachusetts and you’ll see this state pretty much has it all: art, sport, islands and beaches, plus a whole lot of blasts from the past. Book your Massachusetts hotel with us and New England might just become your new favourite destination.

Historical attractions

The history of this U.S state lives on in its modern day activities. It was colonised by English Puritans, and you can see Plymouth Rock, the rock they stood on when they rocked up in 1620, at the Pilgrim memorial State Park. Also in Plymouth, you’ll find the Plimoth Plantation (olden-day spelling intended), where you can take a self-guided tour around a 17th century colonial village.

Walk the Freedom Trail in Boston, which is two miles long and has 16 historic sites where important events took place during the American Revolution.

If you’re interested in the darker side of history, visit the city of Salem, famous for its witch trials. Drop into The Witch House, the only relic of those times left in Salem. Once the home of Jonathan Corwin, one of the judges responsible for sentencing accused witches, it’s now a fascinating museum. The House of the Seven Gables, as well as having a great name, is the historic house made famous by author Nathaniel Hawthorne. It’s in a lovely location right in front of Salem’s harbour.

Other things to do

Visit Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox. Head to the Museum of Fine Arts to browse more than 450,000 works from all over the world, both historic and modern. One of Boson’s most beautiful attractions is its harbour full of islands that are perfect for a day trip. Check out Spectacle Island’s beach! Close to Boston is Cambridge, the home of Harvard University and a place to grab some food or shopping among Harvard Square’s student crowd.

If you’ve got time to venture outside the metro areas, take a trip to Cape Cod to wander fishing villages and whale-watch from the Provincetown Harbor. Catch a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard, a relaxed and romantic island with beaches, cottages and lighthouses.

Shopping and dining

Boston’s Faneuil Marketplace has cobblestoned streets filled with shops and dining spots, as well as a bar that’s a replica of the one from the TV show Cheers. Harvard Square offers all kinds of cool independent shops, while Newbury Street is the place to go for high-end fashion and a wide range of food. Speaking of food, Massachusetts has flavours galore from Boston clam chowder to the wineries spread across New England’s countryside.
