There was no prior information about refurbishment. There was no contactless payment. My wife luckily had her credit card. The eestaurant staff were very friendly. The reception staff behaved like business as usual and showed no regret for inconvenience. The charges were like 5 star rates. Even the ventilation in the room did not work well.

A 6 Star Hotel - Room was excellent.
Our stay in this Hotel was excellent. The room was big enough for the 2 if us. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The check in was easy and smooth. The food in the restaurant was also excellent and a good range to choose from. Overall this would be one of the better Hotels we have stayed in on our 5 week road trip around the UK.

Lovely staff even though we arrived at 2 in the morning! Restaurant staff very accommodating at breakfast - excellent buffet and cooked-to-order items too. All this whilst some major refurbishment taking place - well done to everybody there.

I had booked a room with a walk-in shower because I use a cane but found the bed in the allotted room was a bit too high for me, as I told the night manager. The very next day, Tom Jennings, the overall manager, on his own arranged an”accessible” room for me with a lower bed as well. I was so very grateful to him. The hotel is undergoing renovations, but the staff and manager made me feel very welcome. I recommend the hotel highly.
