The Celtic manor resort has gone downhill so badly. From our first to last experience, we were shocked at the quality in so many areas. To think that presidents have stayed here is baffling. The pool and changing rooms are filthy. None of the lockers work, it smells, and the pool has so much chlorine I couldn’t see. The food is very average. The bar staff don’t know how to make a cocktail. Everything is overpriced. The room was clean, but the bed was so uncomfortable, and the walls were paper thin. Slightly better than a holiday inn. There are kids running around unattended all hours of the day and night. Even in the bars. They even had a really good pianist in one bar that was piped through broken speakers so he sounded like a dying robot. There was beer bottles and rubbish in the potted plants. It’s like nobody really cares anymore, and the place is slowly turning into a cheap motel for people with kids to let their little monsters run free while they drink overpriced cider. Not staying here again.

Staff were friendly but the service was slow. It was particularly busy as they had two balls on the day we stayed. Excellent service from Danny in the Thai restaurant. Other staff need more training. Great selection at breakfast but a lot of it was only luke warm. Very warm welcome at reception. I actually felt that they wanted me to have a nice stay rather than just saying it.Comfy bed and great to have a bath and separate shower.

The hotel was beautiful from start to finish. Dining was a little more expensive than expected but you really did get what you pay for. The spa is beautiful and staff were lovely. Parking is very expensive though so be prepared

The room sizes are large and the view over south east Wales impressive, with a great perspective of the Severn Estuary. There’s limited catering outside of core eating hours so you need to plan for that. The sauna and similar facilities are good and not too busy. The breakfast buffet is fantastic with surprisingly fresh tasting pastries and a very decent black pudding. In the run-up to Christmas, the venue is nicely decorated.

When we booked via exbedia we chose the room with buffet breakfast, but were told on arrival this wasn't included (£32 additional cost). As we booked a room we expected parking to be included, but again £11 extra cost. So what was initially £251 ended up at £294 for a single nights stay. At 5:15 in the morning, a member of staff bushed a trolley with glasses on it along the corridor of our room, waking us up. 15 minutes later he came back and again 30 minutes after that. A hotel is by it nature a bed and breakfast establishment, we had to payvextra for breakfast and had a poor sleep experience. Sorry, we wont be back.
