Very pleasant, quiet, one-night stay.
Very pleasant, quiet, one-night stay. The most-comfortable super-king size bed ever, slept like a baby (not bad for an 72 yr old). Staff delightful, very responsive, all in all two very satisfied customers. (ps did mention a couple of minor issues which desk staff took note of.)

A wonderful stay
We have stayed here many times over the years. The remote old world atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. There is a lovely view and the grounds are well kept. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly, the food is excellent. Highly recommended if you need to get away from it all.

This is an old manor home turned hotel. It was very comfortable, the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the grounds were beautiful. The food was delicious. Our dining table was by a beautiful fire.

After a long drive, it was lovely to open the door to a warm reception area and a warm welcome from staff. Thought the house had rambling stairs lots of doors and maybe not excellent in state of decoration everything was clean .Bedroom welcoming and bathroom sparkling! The deep bath and loads of hot water was very welcome as was power of the shower the next morning .Room service and breakfast delicious

Fantastic property but was let down by stained carpet and a loo that barely flushed. Our £10 credit did not even cover 1 drink as prices were outrageous. I understand it’s a quality property but pay less in 5 stars hotels elsewhere. The dinner was excellent quality and the room itself was beautiful. The grounds immaculate so we understand thus also costs money. I feel breakfast should be built into the price also

Lovely hotel , dinner was delicious and service outstanding. Due to a power cut our weekend was cut short but this was handled very well with rooms found in another hotel or option for a refund for second night. We will definitely return to this fabulous hotel .

Peace and quiet.
A very relaxing stay which was just what we needed. I was disappointed there were no pillow protectors. Having been in the egg industry, the eggs at breakfast were beautiful and cooked to perfection. I assumed they would have come from a local producer (you have a large one at Strichen) I was shocked to hear they were from Nothern Ireland. This is why I marked you down a little on “eco” I appreciate larger hotel groups buy this way but perhaps from the “green” perspective this may need to be reviewed. We would love to stay again.

Nice Stay
Lovely Hogmanay short stay in a relaxing cozy atmosphere. Delicious food and attentive service. Whilst set in a beautiful location the hotel requires attention to detail in some areas to justify its 4 star rating and price.

We had booked our stay for our 5th wedding anniversary after getting married at Pittodrie House. After checking in there was a lovely card wishing us a happy anniversary in our room however there was also a cot set up in the room & the room was roasting. The radiator in the room had been turned up to 30 & the room was very stuffy. There were only 2 quite small windows in the room & the one which looked like it would open had a dressing table in front of it. As we went out to collect our belongings from the car we asked at reception for the cot to be removed & if the window could be opened. This was done immediately & the receptionist apologise for the cot being in the room. We had a lovely dinner & due to a function being on were the only ones in the dining room. When we were ready to leave there was nobody there so we just went back to our room as we weren't sure we needed to pay anything. As a gold hotels.com member we should have had a £10 food and beverage credit so I didn't think we had anything to pay. When we got up the next morning I noticed a stain on one of the towels in the bathroom. There was also a cobweb behind the bedroom door. Breakfast was fine. When we came to check out I asked about the walled garden which is looking very untidy but this is due to staff shortages over covid. I was still disappointed not to be able to find our plaque/rose. We were also asked to pay for the drinks from dinner. I didn't want to complain any further so just paid.

Room for improvement
For a hotel that offers weddings, overall we would have expected certain things to be better: - for a premium breakfast of £19 per person the porridge was made with water and was very bland and inedible, I would have expected some proper bakery standard bread not processed 20p loaf. However, the muslin over the lemon was a fantastic touch, the dining room was clean and the service was good. The interior design of the hotel is beautiful, very warm and welcoming and appears comfortably premium - However a small touch such as painting the back of the ladies bathroom doors would change it from back alley pub toilet to luxury hotel. I really appreciated the splashback below the hand dryer and the premium hand soap and lotion. Again the decor is lovely, warming and has that special feel about it. Our room was fantastic and initial impressions made me feel it was clean however the shower cap box in the bathroom was empty (although not required) yet had clearly been used by someone to rest their toothbrush on! The size, decor and layout of the room itself was beautiful and we had a very comfortable stay. We really appreciated that the curtains close properly! I appreciated the premium drinking glasses in the room but found there was actually no drinking water provided with them - drinking tap water from the bathroom was a big no no. Overall, the hotel is beautiful, the staff are friendly however I will not pursue this location for our wedding unfortunately.
