Beautiful hotel
Beautiful hotel. Elegant and well-maintained. We enjoyed the walking through the various areas on the 1st and 2nd floor (library, bar, meeting rooms, silver ballroom, etc) with all of their chandeliers and 1920-1930s touches. Stayed here for our anniversary, including dinner at the Bridgeman's Chophouse (excellent food and service, very pricey). Our room had a comfy king size bed and tub which is what I appreciate. The room itself was basic. The bathroom was overly large since it was an accessible room but enjoyed the tub as I mentioned above.

There is an emphasis on history and service at this property which makes one feel as though she has stepped back in time. The lobby and ground floor are beautiful with wood and marble everywhere. We elected for a premier room which was spacious and comfortable. The indoor pool is lovely and relaxing. For less than the cost of a chain hotel, this stay has exceeded my expectations.

I am not sure how there are so many positive reviews on this place, to be fair, potentially there are newly renovated rooms, but our room was a complete disaster. Keep in mind, the room was $453 per night. The bathroom was like a $59 per night Econolodge, black mold on walls, mildew all over shower, chips and rust spots all over tub, etc. Every painted surface was nicked and scratched and stained, there were dead flies all over the air conditioner, there was a random heavy duty extension cord plugged into an outlet that then ran into the wall (I’ll bet that is up to code.), etc., etc., etc. The room was not in any way consistent with the posted photos. When you check in tell them you want a renovated room, or you will be horribly disappointed.

Only thing I didn’t like was the parking options. Valet parking was the best option. I will say the Valets were AWESOME - they literally run to go get your car. The hotel itself was fantastic and my wife and I really enjoyed staying there

The best hotel in Chattanooga
This is my 3rd time staying at the Read House! Anytime we go to Chattanooga we will stay here! Employees are so kind, there is a Starbucks in the hotel, the valet boys are very impressive, the pool is perfect if you have kids, and have you seen pictures of the lobby?! This place is BEAUTIFUL

History and elegance of this hotel were super appealing. The lobby area and downstairs bar are very classy looking. The room did have a slight musty odor but after about 15 minutes, we didn’t notice it. There were some chips in the bathtub and it could’ve used better pillows but everything else was perfectly fine. They had a high-end steakhouse within the restaurant, and very close walking distance for several other very nice restaurants with a free shuttle easily accessible from the hotel that took you all over Chattanooga
