Superb
Small, ultra-friendly hotel which punched well above its expected weight. For a very reasonable price, we got an excellently comfortable double room with a decent shower ensuite. The breakfast was superb (we had the full English) and the owners and staff were so friendly. I confess to liking my beer and there was a great choice of well-kept ales that we both dived into, when we were exhausted from exploring Chester.

What a unique and wonderful stay we had at the Golden Eagle. Rooms are above the pub (but we had no noise issues). The room and bed we comfortable, the breakfast was really good, and the conversations with the bartender, the owner, and the waitstaff were great. Nice people in a quite location just off a main road through Chester. Stay here!

Great place to stay!
Great location in the city centre. We stayed on a Saturday night and it was quiet, with the pub being up a little side street. Quaint room, comfy bed and very cosy. We chose the Continental breakfast and it was excellent. Would highly recommend staying here.

If you're happy staying in a friendly pub, convenient for walking around Chester, then definitely consider the Golden Eagle. The room itself was a good size, clean, with a decent shower room, with its own individual decor. It's not a clinical hotel chain sort of place - it's what you'd expect from a pub - so expect to be able to hear the background noise of a bar if you're in your room at night. But it's a pub with character and we enjoyed a drink when we returned from eating out. Breakfast was good - you have a choice of cooked or continental, and they like to know the night before so they can serve you it at the agreed time in the morning. Really enjoyed our stay.
