Delta Flight FAQs

Does Delta charge for bags?

Delta allows you to bring one overhead carry-on and one personal item for free on every flight. If you can’t seem to travel light, on most routes you’ll pay about a $30 fee to check a bag. There are exceptions, for example, for travel within Canada or between the U.S. or Canada and South America, you’ll get a free checked bag. Check out your baggage allowances with Wotif customer support, then load up the shoes.

Can I choose my seats on Delta?

Basic Economy passengers will have to wait for your seat to be assigned after you check in. With a ticket purchase in any other class, you’ll pick your seats when you buy your ticket, for no extra charge.

What is Delta's biggest plane?

Delta’s newest plane, the Airbus A350, is also its largest yet. With a wingspan of 212 feet, 5 inches, it’s a bit larger than the Airbus A330-900, which clocks in at 210 feet, and is much larger than the airline’s Boeing planes. It has private suites—a new Delta feature—and will run routes from Detroit to Tokyo and to other Asian destinations, including Seoul and Beijing. If you’re travelling to Asia, you’ve gotta hop on one of these planes.

Does Delta have free Wi-Fi?

Delta offers Wi-Fi on the majority of its planes—more than 1,100, to be exact. This includes all of its international flights, as well, which is great news for jet-setters. You’ll pay anywhere from $16 to $28 for a day pass, depending on your flight. However, you’ll get free messaging via iMessage, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp, so you can always keep in touch with your mates on the ground.

Where is Delta Airlines based?

Delta’s largest hub is at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which also happens to be one of the busiest in the world. You can get just about anywhere when you fly through Atlanta: Delta has more than 1,000 flights per day from that city alone. Delta’s other busy bases include Detroit, New York, and Minneapolis, plus international hubs in Tokyo, Amsterdam, Paris, and London.
