Really nice place and staff really helpful also. Room was slightly tired in appearance but not too bad. The biggest issue for us was the bugs in the bathroom which seemed to be coming from under the bathtub and there was also broken glass on the floor in the bathroom when we arrived that our toddler could have picked up. These are minor things though as overall the place was great for us to stay and the gardens were good to sit in with the weather

We booked 2 rooms to cater for our family of 5 and we were given rooms that were literally a 10 minute walk from each other. The food was terrible at the Atrium and the service even worse. The breakfast food had the texture such that everything was cooked in the microwave. You need to have a car if you stay here as there are no taxis available and the reception staff do nothing to help. The hotel has daily conferences and weddings and little attention is paid to guests outside of these groups. I will never return to this hotel and will never stay at a De Vere hotel either. Such a shame as the building is beautiful and the grounds are lovely.

Beautiful hotel
Friendly check-in, beautiful hotel and lovely room. Restaurant experience let it down. Arrived at hotel at 7:30pm after a 4 hour drive and was told restaurant quiet so no need to book, but when coming to eat 15minutes later the greeter felt it necessary to loudly tell us off for not booking and made a great show of considering whether he could fit us in (when 90%+ of the tables were free). Food quality patchy.

Pros and cons
We arrived at 6pm and the terrace was beautiful to sit and soak up the evening sun, but unforunately the gorgeous sun was blazing through our window all day meaning the room was very hot. We had the choice of opening the windows to sleep, but that let in the sound of all the industrial fans and vents below our window. The building was spectacular and beautifully maintained, but being such an old building we could hear our neighbours above's every move all night long. All of the communal areas were beautiful but maybe it wasnt worth the upgrade do a deluxe room.

I was disappointed with the room on this visit, in that even though I paid a £50 fee to upgrade to a CSUI (room 102) I found several problems. 1. There was a blind that was broken and could not raise it. 2. One of the bedside lamps would not work 3. I could not open the windows which had been painted over and were at such a height that you could not see out of them. Very disappointing on this visit and I will think carefully before making my next reservation.

I would stay again, however…
Stunning hotel, we expected a bit more due to price. There were some simple things that could have been easily corrected like a stain on the bed runner. It’s a bit dated but somewhat expected from a period property. To be clear I would stay again but due to price paid, they could do better.
