Staff were excellent - and so it’s a real shame that overall we were really disappointed with our stay at the Crown Spa in Scarborough. The property is tired inside and out and while that’s not an issue for me usually as older hotels tend to have more charm, it was this time because it was really not very clean in public areas especially the restaurant. Egg up the back of bench seats, old food and stains on woodwork and just generally unloved and in desperate need of a deep clean. The hotel lacked ambience, which I was surprised about given its position and historic significance in Scarborough. No music in bar, restaurant or seating area for atmosphere, the whole of that area had a really weird and uncomfortable vibe. Furniture in room was chipped and peeling. No valance on beds, absolutely not a 4* room, but very much at 4* prices. Patio area outside bar was dirty with rubbish on the floor and unkempt plants, not a very pleasant place to sit. Bathroom looked out over a taxi firm & garage which was fine except if you opened the window they had a full view of anyone using the toilet(!!) there was a ratty blind but it really wasn’t ideal. Also noisy overnight, some kind of machine running for most of the night sounded like a fan or maybe washing machine? Overall absolutely not worth the money paid - wish I had chosen a different hotel for our trip.

the hotel could do with a deep clean, such as bannisters, felt dirty to touch, around our bathroom sink was dirty. the mattress was well worn and we kept rolling in to the middle of the bed... generally just needs a good refresh

Ok so this definitely isnt a 4 star. I was in the executive room and it hadno air con but a noisy fan. There is mould in lots of places through out the hotel and the jacuzzi in the spa only has enough power to power a few of the jets The breakfast is a buffet and again not what was expected od a 4* Parking is £15 extra and overall I wouldnt recommend this hotel

The hotel is over all nice, well located and good size room which was clean But i do feel the room was over priced. The hotel is in need of some tender loving care. The one area which i was disappointed with was the Bar. It was a Saturday night but only x1 staff member on. Glass and plates all over. No one tidying and the staff member didn't seem to care how busy bar was. Breakfast was average, i think waitress service would be more efficient when the area is so small.

This hotel was amazing! Beautiful sea views , clean, tidy and wonderful helpful and friendly staff. I stayed at this hotel with my little boy , he was blown away , really loved the jacuzzi and the facilities and continues to talk about the 'best hotel ever' to this day! thank you Crown spa for making our stay in Scarborough so enjoyable! We Highly recommend this hotel, it has everything you could need such as fridge and safe and wardrobe space! TV in the bath was not quite working but wow what a surprise to see that! Fabulous hotel ! Parking permit was really useful! We most certainly hope to see you again soon and highly recommend.

Disappointing
Unable to get the key to the room until 3pm without paying an extra charge on top of the already pricey room rates Finally got checked in to room 320. Bathroom mirror had a four foot long crack on one corner. Plug in the bathtub didn’t fit properly, so it was impossible to have a bath because it wouldn’t fill to a depth of more than a couple of inches. Wooden old fashioned sash windows don’t open more than a couple of inches. No a/c or even a fan in the room so on a warm day room was too hot. Overall an incredibly disappointing experience we don’t intend to repeat.
