We stayed at Maisons du Monde - Marseille for the last 2 nights of our recent trip to Europe. Access to the hotel was great, easily accessed from the Vieux Port Metro station, which importantly, had escalators. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with rooms having various decorating themes. Our room was spacious enough (we'd booked a superior room) and clean, the bed comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was modern, with a wonderful shower. We had the buffet breakfast on our final morning (we had an early train back to Paris), and the breakfast cook couldn't have been more lovely, cooking eggs to order, warming up Croque Monsieur, nothing was too much trouble. The guest lounge is a great space to have a drink in, or to work remotely from (if you were working), with the option of lounge seating, or tables and chairs.

"After being in some other congested, urban areas of France it was a really nice break to stay in a hotel on the edge of town, with a nice river flowing by and lots of greenery. It took about 30 minutes to walk into the central part of town, most of which was along the river on a quiet road."
