Nice hotel with good indoor and outdoor pool and gym which closes at 7pm unfortunately. During our two night stay Bamboo restaurant and Sky Bar closed. As the hotel is built on a steep hill you need transport for local shops and restaurants.

Five star hotel / resort with great rooms, view and buffet breakfast. Good indoor and outdoor pool and gym which closes at 7pm unfortunately. Sky Bar and Bamboo restaurant also closed. As the property is located on top of a steep hill, transport is required to local shops and restaurants.

A very large hotel that would have once been fabulous, but has likely felt the effects of Covid. Itā€™s still very tidy and clean, just a bit empty feeling. There are two pools, which is fantastic. The gym is large and spacious. Our room was good, the bed was however as hard as a rock. The reception staff are very welcoming and friendly, we also had a member of staff help us with transport and made our stay very easy. Unfortunately a lot of the staff do not seem to speak much English and were also quite hesitant to even interact with us, which can be frustrating. The breakfast is large enough, but wasnā€™t anything special. At the time of our visit Halong bay had recently been hit with a very bad typhoon and we could see that the hotel was working hard to remedy any damage that had occurred - this did not effect our stay other then some restaurants in the hotel being closed.

Lovely huge hotel in the hills overlooking Halong. If you are arriving in Halong the night before your cruise then this is the place to stay. Huge rooms, pool and an incredible view truly set this hotel apart. Highly recommended

Fabulous view. Big bedroom. Too far from the city so you have to eat and drink in the restaurant. The breakfast bar is phenomenal and the food is great. On average , there are only few Europeans in the hotel so apart from at the reception, making ourselves understood was sometimes a challenge (little English spoken).

Very fancy hotel! Super clean and the view is amazing. The only thing Iā€™d say is itā€™s very out of the way, and there is no food options around either. The restaurants in the hotel has a weird vibe, no one is ever there, pretty empty.. itā€™s hard to order a grab or order food delivery because grab doesnā€™t allow their driver to enter this area.. youā€™d need to take the taxi out.

This hotel thinks it is a 5-star hotel, but it is at best a 3-star unsafe and outdated hotel which I would never return to, even if you pay me to. Worst is its complimentary bottled water policy which is one tiny 330ml (not even 500ml) bottle per person per day. Even at the breakfast buffet, there is no hot water served, nor are you able to take away any of the liquids served there. Basically, they want to make money off their beverages by denying you to basic water, where the water from the tap is unsafe to drink. All of the electric sockets in our room are loose and unsafe. The bath towels are old and have seen better days, and it's the first 5-star hotel I ever been to, where you are given only 1 pillow per person. At the Melia, in Haiphong previously, we were asked and given our own selection of pillow to choose from, in addition to the many pillows already in the room. The hotel is stuck in the 1980's like a big white elephant. I was shocked to see all of the elevators also had no device to tap your room key to ensure only hotel guests can use the hotel elevators. No sense of safety nor comfort, never mind luxury. Stay away is my only recommendation.
