Amazing city views and customer service

Fabulous!!! The service in this hotel was second to none. We had an issue with our reservation, and I accidentally booked a smoking room when I wanted non smoking, and the staff worked diligently until the issue was resolved. We were very impressed. The views from this hotel are STUNNING and the happy hour is a nice perk. We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. My.wife said of all the hotels we stayed in so far she would definately return to this one. The breakfast was really good, (with a lovely view over the city to enjoy) staff were welcoming and the evening drinks and snacks was a nice touch. Having a coin operated washer drier for clothes was very convenient. We will be back here someday.

Sooooooo disappointed

We have had exceptional experience of Mitsui hotels on previous visits to Japan so when looking for a hotel in Hiroshima we saw this hotel and decided to pay a lot extra than we usually pay, but what a disappointment it was. Firstly the reception desk was a messy disaster, not that the staff do much for you everything is done at a machine, very impersonal and not a 4 star experience. The lounge part of the lobby, which looks enormous in the on line photos, is actually quite small and very dated. Some if the furniture was worn and stained, in particular a leather ottoman is all damaged on the edge and the buttons have no finish left on them, white not brown. The room floor was obviously renovated recently, the corridors are nice enough. The room was pretty bland, all white apart from the blue striped feature wallpaper behind the beds. We booked a room for three, we had three beds in a room obviously designed for two, there was only about 9inches between. So the whole room was filled with beds apart from a strip about four feet wide which had lots of furniture in it. The walls are already marked and the furniture chipped. Worst was the bathroom, the original Japanese prefabricated +/- 4'6"x5' bathroom obviously original and not touched by the renovation. Reasonable condition but too small for the money, greenly where the toilet joined the floor and a dirty light switch outside. The lounge on the 25th floor does have stunning views. Definitely not worth the price

I liked how the rooms are very spacious for the cost for a room. The free dinning event had amazing food and drinks with no extra cost to the customer/guest. The employees of the hotel were very helpful on finding things in the area and very kind and welcoming.

An efficiency-oriented business hotel

When I arrived at the hotel, I was informed of the check-in kiosk, which was a little disappointing for a hotel like this. The process of entering my information was also quite cumbersome, such as having to manually enter it on the touchscreen without a separate keyboard. It was particularly difficult after a long flight. The room itself was generally clean and comfortable. However, the carpet felt a bit damp and could have used cleaning or replacement. The happy hour and the lounge were pleasant areas to relax.

There were a lot of good things about Mitsui Garden but also a couple of significant reasons for which we wouldn’t return. First the good - staff are friendly, polite and professional. The breakfast is very nice with a good variety of both Japanese and Western foods. They offer change up some of the foods on a day to day basis which is nice for a longer stay. The dining room, on the 25th floor with nearly 360 degree views, is really lovely. The rooms are small, typical for Japan. We needed three beds and at this hotel, the beds are “full” size rather than singles. We would have preferred singles which would have afforded a little more space. Overall though, the room layout was manageable. The hotel is well located within walking distance of the Hiroshima Dome, Museum, Memorials as well as many restaurants and a main shopping area. The opportunities for improvement at this hotel are: 1. The window in the room doesn’t open, the “a/c” has a lower limit of 20C and it was always much warmer than 20 degrees. Very hot and stuffy. 2. The hotel, rooms and dining room are all renovated but the bathroom in the hotel room is old. Besides being old, it is covered in mold. Black mold between all the tiles. The bathroom doesn’t have a fan (also not unusual in Japan) but the bathtub never clears of standing water so the mold isn’t a surprise. It’s nothing that some vinegar and elbow grease couldn’t fix.

What a beautiful hotel. Comfortable, but firm, beds and pillows. Amenities for guests. Very close to Hiroshima historic sites.small cafe inside lobby. Friendly staff. Happy Hour on top floor for guests with a beautiful view
