Beautiful updated hotel, convenient for our performance at the Stadtcasino. Our only qualm was a mixup with the rooms. I was informed our room category had adjoining rooms available. The request for adjoining rooms was confirmed both via email and verbally. At check-in, however, we were informed that adjoining rooms didnā€™t exist in the room category we booked, and because the hotel was fully booked, there was no availability to switch. This was not ideal for our large family with young kids.

Nice hotel

It was only one night but it was clean and comfortable and convenient. There was a ton of public transportation right out the front door as well. I wish the hotel had an airport shuttle because we were really ripped off by the cab we took which we found out later was a 7-9 minute trip took 35 minutes and they charged double what other cabs quoted but waited until we reached our destination to charge us (no meter).

I had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. I made my reservation through Expedia and paid in full prior to my arrival. However, upon check-in, I was asked to provide a card for incidentals. When I checked out, I noticed an unexpected charge of over Ā£500. I initially assumed this was a temporary hold that would be refunded in a few days, but after multiple calls and no clear resolution, Iā€™m still left with no answers. Unfortunately, the hotel has been unresponsive, simply redirecting me to Expedia. I would advise caution when booking here and would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Really nice hotel in a great location

It's in great location, walkable from the main train station and also walkable to the main touristy/restaurant area of the city. The room we had was huge, more like a small apartment. Everything was in great condition and checkin was super easy. Having the free bus pass was very handy, as it meant we could make our way back to the airport at no extra charge (you need bus 50 to get to the airport, it stops just on the left hand side (as you are walking out) of the main entrance to the SBB station. The only slight negative is the room felt quite warm, which was the case for all of the hotels we stayed in in Switzerland. We had air con but turning that down didn't make too much of a difference. But I would say this is a great place to stay if visiting Basel or even if you are just transiting through e.g. making your way to or from the mountains.

I had cleaners entering my room everyday despite putting the do not clean sign. Complaining to the front desk did nothing. At the end when I got my bill, it said I was from Palestine. I am an Israeli citizen, with an Israeli passport. And the face they tries pushing there political agenda on me is the reason I would never stay at this hotel again.

The only negative was that other guestā€™s dog lefy 2 piles of geces in the corridet. Someone tried to remove it but left 2 significant feces smears on the carpet. We immediately notified front desk receptionist. Then next morning we told the housekeeper who was aware. The smears remained for our entire visit until our last morning when we submitted complaints to reception director again, it was finally cleaned at the time of our departure. We completed guest surveys & complaint forms. Since dogs are welcome almost everywhere in European countries then the hotels must be more responsible & respectful to other guests! We hope our next hotel reservation has a MORE SIZEABLE discount from Expedia.
