The room we booked was infested with ants. We arrived shortly before midnight after a 630 mile drive. We asked for a different room but were told that none were available. The night manager acknowledged they were having an insect problem, indicating that an exterminator was scheduled to come the next day. He offered us a container of Ortho Home Defense insecticide to spray the room ourselves. Seriously! The directions for that stuff indicate it should be sprayed in a well ventilated area, not two or three feet from where you are planning to sleep for the night. We asked for a refund, which was granted, however, it still has not showed up on our credit card statement. It was too late to search for another hotel so we ended up sleeping in our car in the hotel parking lot. Not good for anyone to have to do that, especially elderly people like us.

Wingate visit 2024
A nice stay. Visiting family on memorial weekend. Race Day, hard to find a room. They had a room available at a decent price. The room was clean, nice and comfy. The pool was great, breakfast was nice. Been to this hotel before, always a nice stay.

Facility had some areas that were old and needed replacement Mold in shower and ants all in room and bed. Front desk said that happens and the bug exterminator was scheduled to be out tomorrow. Would not stay here again if had other choices

What we did not like: ANTS in our room on the 3rd floor. We woke up with ants in the bed and all over the side table next to the bed. Then when I hopped in the shower this morning to get ants off of me there was no body soap in the body soap dispenser. So that was awesome. We left at 10:15 am for our golf tournament and let the front desk know. They said they would send someone up to spray. When we returned at 830 at night ANTS still here. No note saying hey we came and sprayed and no evidence of someone spraying in this room. We went back down to front desk, lady was super nice but she couldnt help and no one else was there she said, so she handed us spray to spray the room ourselves. I do not feel like I should be paying for rooms with ants. And I certainty should not be the one spraying for them when I paid to stay here. It must be a problem here because she had the ant spray on hand. What we did like: the beds until.the ANTS arrived, pillows were super comfy on the king some super soft some firm great variety. Breakfast was ok we are staying for 2 days so were hoping its a little more fresh tomorrow, french toast was hard, eggs were weird, seemed more like that egg stuff you get in the carton. Overall this place seems nice but the ANTS are a huge problem. Who wants to pay to sleep with ants? I can do that on an air mattress in the woods.
