WOW!! Highly recommended!!
It was amazing!! We got a lot more than we were expecting! The photos do not do this place justice! I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled up..so happy we chose this place. Wish we could have stayed longer now. I HIGHLY recommend this! Close to the airport and to visit Edinburgh.

Old school charm
The hotel is an old building and there are parts which feel quite run down but that did add to the charm of it. The carpets need replacing in parts and the bed I had was very soft. Overall though, the room was larger than average and the welcome i received was lovely. I would stay again.

A beautiful historic building in very well maintained gardens. Lovely pool and Elemis spa area. Dinner in the bar was delicious, staff were very friendly. However, beware if breakfast is not included in your deal, the restaurant tried to charge almost £54 for 2 coffees and 2 breakfast rolls, when we asked why they said it was a basic hot breakfast charge, whether you had a full cooked breakfast or a sausage on a roll, which was 1 sausage cut in half !! We paid £24 after refusing to pay a full breakfast charge.

Not worth the money.
Nice location, old rooms with wallmounted showers not fit for tall people. Former guests trash was still in bin. Food was very bad. Ordered beef which was all white and pale. The sauce tasted like fish. Breakfast was very expensive and I have allergies which made me order just bacon and baked beans. Got two bacon and a really small bowl of beans. Would not recommend.

Nice traditional hotel, but breakfast quality poor
checked in and were directed to the bar for late night food, only to be told at bar the kitchen was closed!!! Disappointing. Then, in the morning, the buffet was half empty, ie no bread and stale pastries, plus the cooked breakfast was pretty average.

Great location and building but needs maintenance
Lovely setting, really convenient and good facilities with the pool and spa. Beautiful old tower house and sympathetically designed new buildings to compliment. I can imagine this hotel was top end in its heyday but now lack of maintenance really lets this place down, alongside a slightly lacklustre cleaning effort. The rooms whilst spacious feel tired and there is a real lack of investment in the basics, even touching up paint following repairs - a 2 min job. Staff were all lovely and really helpful. However my room had a roof leak (no surprise, trees in the gutters and the skews were all cracked), window cills completely rotten, carpets worn down to threads, paintwork desperately needing refreshed. Its just lack of investment in core facilities, however having had the worst experience of accommodation ever in a macdonald cabin near carrbridge for very similar reasons it seems to be a trait with MacDonald hotels - management don't invest in their buildings.
