A Mixed Bag
Generally a good experience, but with reservations. A hotel of character, much nicer than bland city tower blocks, but ready for overall refurbishment. Very un-green: no double glazing anywhere I saw. Room cleaning skimpy - glass shelf over sink always left unwiped, tea provisions not topped up adequately, bath not wiped round. Food excellent quality, well prepared. More choice of breakfast buffet items would be welcome. If you are solo and book in advance for dinner, be aware that you might find your table is in the remote and spartan reception/corridor area, not the actual restaurant - staff said they wished the restaurant was larger, which sounded like they routinely over-book. Convenient location for public transport- bus stops round the corner and railway station about ten minutes walk.

Very central in Machynlleth. Large private car park. The building is quite quirky, parts have been updated but others are in need of attention. Some staff very nice but others rather offhand. Comfy bed.

Wynnstay Hotel, Machynlleth, 10th August 2024
I stayed for one night in a single room with en-suite, a comfortable chair, a desk, teas and coffees. Everything very clean, very white towels and sheets, mattress a bit old but I had a good night's sleep. It's a large old building. I didn't see a lift, so up the stairs and along several corridors to find the room. Breakfast was excellent and very tasty. All the staff were friendly, polite and helpful.

Lovely old building. Lots of different rooms/areas. Good beer. Good food. Our room was a bit tired and could do with a bit of love. New people have just taken over the hotel. Need a bit of time to find their feet. I’m sure they’ll get there.

I had a good stay at The Wynnstay. It was quite chaotic when I checked in so I wasn’t given wifi details or told whether breakfast was included (it was and I missed it). The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of Machynlleth. It’s quite an old building but it’s quite charming. There’s a lovely bar downstairs with great staff. The double bed is actually two singles pushed together which wasn’t great but had a good night’s sleep.

Lovely people and comfortable room.
Lovely people here in this traditional hotel in the heart of Machynlleth. Just the warm welcome and comfy stay I needed at the start in my holiday. And the Glamorgan Sausage for breakfast was spectacularly tasty!

The only place to stay, 5 star ⭐️
As always the hotel couldn’t do enough for us. Some of the guys couldn’t make it but that wasn’t an issue they let us rebook so we didn’t lose money. The 9 of us that did stay had a fantastic evening in the bar with the locals. Dinner was fantastic. Couldn’t recommend the place more highly. The staff are one of the main reasons we keep coming back.

Great restaurant but I wouldn't recommend rooms
Stay were fab! Very welcoming & friendly. The restaurant food was superb. The rooms however leave alot to be desired. Very much in need of a full refurbishment. Cold shower, toilet doesn’t flush properly, everything very tired looking. Could have done with a real deep clean. Very disappointed overall

As a Great grandaughter of the owner of The Wynnstay Arms 1920-1925, I thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely Hotel. The decor was very old English & with an amazing amount of collectables. The staff were very friendly & helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable experience
