Functional is the best way to describe. The room should have been $100 cheaper for what it was. However, despite being in the middle of the CBD, there was minimal noise from outside the building—just from other guests entering or exiting their rooms as the doors were rather close together.

Room was adequate for one person... queen bed comfortable... en suite spotless... floor space adequate for one. Too small and dark to spend too much time in with another person. Staff very helpful and efficient. Great location in CBD. Disappointed that the cityscape view indicated on the website did not eventuate. My view was of a solid wall across the laneway where the rubbish skips were kept... and emptied at 3 am!!!

Overall great location so close to everything / the room was small but good enough for 2 for a short stay have had a larger wardrobe Staff friendly but I had to ask several times for toilet paper to be brought to our room / not fast on room service didn’t get it until the next morning lucky we weren’t desperate for it … lol

I arrived a day early, but staff were very understanding and accommodated me, even though I was required to change room the next day. It was seemless and staff were very helpful. What's not to like??

The shower was terrible. Very narrow, the shower head on a short extension and ease of use not good. Water temperature went from perfect to scolding hot to cold in seconds. Didn't expect to be burnt by hot water. The bed is on castors that weren't secured so bed moved all over the place. The photos are deceptive as the room was much smaller than depicted in the photos..

Very helpful and personable front-of-house staff; room was good and very clean. Will be quite happy to stay there agin on future visits to Melbourne. The 10pm curfew for using front entrance: not a problem as such, but recommend a reminder note about that at check-in time and also a written note in the room -especially for weekend stays, when getting back to hotel from evening events/other city locations may take longer than expected and/or guests are unfamiliar with the part of city that the hotel is in.

I choose to stay at the Mercure, as a single traveller. Location is good, the staff are excellent, and while some areas could be updated, this property offers excellent value for money for anyone staying in the CBD. Very comfy bed, good shower, plus tea/coffee making facilities, iron, ironing board, aircon. Recommended!

The first night was not great the room is not soundproof so we could hear everyone else in there rooms, the light from the lobby comes through the doorway. The beds in the room were old innerspring mattresses with the springs poking us as we layed down. I mentioned this to the manager and she was amazing, she went above and beyond, we changed rooms and found better beds which was nice. Overall not bad but not sure we would stay there again.
