The Duplex no. 1 nyali<br>
Your first impression is of cool white washed walls and tiled floors. There ceiling fans and air conditioning in every sweet spots, potted palms ,pale marble, and brown polished furniture. Light streams through the slidding Windows to emphasize the yellow-brown colour of cushions where guests are entertained. A large gold-plated mirror catches the light, and there are pots of tropical foliage. The atmosphere is easy, there is a sense of comfort and tradition.Guests can shop, sightsee and dine.
Mombasa, the second largest city in Kenya .it is a steamy,tropical,low-rise city with asymmetrical streets, a lanquid pace, and a diverse and intriguing population. Mombasa is mostly a Swahili town.Women chatter by in dark bui-bui or wrapped in brilliant multi-coloured kanga. There are dozens of intricate mosques and temples, pungent open markets, mazes of narrow lanes crowded with street stalls.Mombasa is a port and commercial center located 5km away from nyali , Although we accomodate groups of up to 6 guests. Nyali attracts honeymoon couples, families with children and tourists from all over the world. Marine"safaris" take you to the reef in glass-bottom boats, and you can safari to see the big game in Tsavo National Park. There is the jungle environment of Shimba Hills and the lure of Old Town Mombasa nearby. In fact Stars in the zoo is perhaps the closest duplex to the shopping, sightseeing and restaurants of Mombasa. There is one standard sized pool with a huge outdoor terrace. Variety is the spice of life at Stars in the zoo and that applies to the three eating areas. The rule here is a self catered cuisine as it sets a perfect environment for self-reliant guests and tour groups. A chef is on request at a fee to accompany family grills ,open air fruit cocktails and cakes and treats to order! The duplex issues a daily sport and entertaimemt programme, with walks to the beach , beach clean-up activities and For romantic nights, you can dance at the Discos and clubs within a walking distance or even under the stars on our outdoor garden terrace on request. There are frequent promotional specials, package rates, and often discounts for residents, families, diplomats and tour groups.
300meters to the bus stop
A walk would be best as the local transportation"Tuk Tuk's" are just meters away.
For the sunny days we prefer you carry along a bottle of water a hat would do. Don't forget to sun screen as temperatures could rise and cause sun burns.
TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF
Malaria: A mosquito bite can kill. Take appropriate precautions. Follow updated medical advice on which prophylactic to take, and remember to complete the dose when you get back home. If you do get sick, be sure to tell your doctor you were in a malaria area.
Mosquitoes tend to bite in the evening and at night. You can start by closing the Windows at the duplex . You can help protect yourself in the evenings by using the mosquito wall repellant provided and by covering arms and legs.
AIDS: Come for the animals, come for the sun, come for the panoramas. Don't come for "sex".
Water: As a rule of thumb, don't drink the tap water. We provide mineral despensared water found in the kitchen area , You can also buy bottled mineral water -local or imported /carbonated club soda.
Food: Most travellers are impressed by the quantity and diversity of food offered in kenya.Even when you are deep in the bushes and miles away from any agricultural or commercial center , you are most assured a packed snack from us filled with fruits and salads.
Highs and Lows: In kenya, altitudes range from sea level to over 5,000 meters.Be alert to the fact that quick altitude changes can be dangerous to your health.
Mountain climbers- beware!
Exercise:The word "safari" means journey in Swahili
Ironically,it is easier to get more exercise at the coast. There is always swimming, perhaps disco dancing at night, and long walks through the beach. However, sun and humidity , the languid pace, big meals, and a good beer also mean that exercise might not feature in your coastal holiday. You can always return to your aerobic classes when you get home.
RAIN OR SHINE
Kenya is not all hot,or all dry.
Early morning game drives in a open vehicle can be very cold- come prepared
P's AND Q's
Vendor vigilance: You may be pestered by local souvenir vendors. Bargaining is the older of the day.Batering is an option--T-shirts and pens are popular .Humour usually works better than anger or dismay.
Photo Ops: Photograph landscapes, photograph animals, but ask permission before taking photos of people.
Our Furry Friends: The animals are wild in the parks . stay within the park rules for a better experience . The fact that crows are up in the sky does not mean you can feed them . kindly do not feed the birds or animals in the parks.
