Very sad to discover that property has been bought by Days Inn and is slated to be fully remodeled -- at a cost of millions ... when current owners cannot even keep the place sufficiently staffed at present???
How does this make any sense -- not only re: design (spacious rooms architectural elements throughout are what make this property unique!)..... but also financially?
It only makes "sense" if hotel chains use "remodeling" indebtedness as a financial tool to leverage their tax burden, not otherwise -- because if those millions were applied to, say:
1) Use paint new fabrics to update interiors; transform lobby via painting walls deep marine blue, w/structural focal elements such as overhang a metallic gold; use wallpaper to distinguish recessed areas in lobby -- such as amazing electric light "arches" projected along the left wall, etc.;
2) Upgrade property to "spa" level by reconfiguring pool (increase size, cover w/glass greenhouse, heat & fill w/plants, chaises, etc.);
3) Improve surrounding landscaping (plant maintenance-free vinca minor ferns along back hill);
4) Define location via mural along cement block retaining wall (e.g. Nashville skyline w/hotel location aircraft depicted flying above--incl. Air Nat'l Guard, get local artist for project).
If these suggestions were considered, the property could become a major stay-worthy destination, instead of yet another "McDonald's" design -- at a fractionof the cost.
