SLS Baha Mar was absolutely fabulous! Went for 5 days with my family and stayed in a suite. Sarah in concierge went above to make our stay memorable with birthday celebrations and helped extend our check out due to late flight. Lobby was sheek and relaxing and room suite was so spacious and comfortable. Loved hanging out by the cigar bar to watch the fire in water show that was mesmerizing! Great high end stores there too.

The service issues are endless and ruin the vacation. Horrible service. It’s not just the long line at the check-in desk (and the fact that the room wasn’t ready until 4:30 PM without any apology), but problems exist at every corner. They have no concept of customer service, and it’s disgraceful. We’ve stayed at enough resorts to confidently say this is the worst sequence of mishaps we’ve ever encountered, coupled with impatient and rude staff who never smile. First of all, if you have children, beware that there’s loud music blasting until midnight from the rooftop club, shaking the walls and audible throughout the room, even with the windows closed. Regarding service: the small problems add up. For example, at 4 PM there are no clean towels left by the pool, and the staff doesn’t seem to think this is a problem. They respond impatiently that “this is how it is.” Just one example. I also find it unreasonable that the pool closes at 5 PM, but fine. We requested a crib for our room in advance, but there wasn’t one. We also requested a car seat for the airport transfer, but none was provided. Speaking of airport transfers, when you book a luxury SUV through the hotel, you don’t expect to stand in a long line for a transfer at the airport and then wait another 15 minutes for the driver to show up. They are completely inflexible. Also, they’re the only hotel I’ve encountered that charges for milk for a baby. The staff all look unhappy and angry.

Great for couples
Great hotel and amenities. Would get expensive having the whole family for a week, but for a few nights with partner it is perfect getaway. The restaurants are fantastic and we loved everything.

Good for what it is - just be aware of what it is
SLS is part of a 3-hotel complex, with Grand Hyatt and Rosewood making up the trio. It is a large hotel with a lot of rooms - though still considerably smaller than the Grand Hyatt. All 3 hotels are linked by a ground floor casino and shopping area. There are a number of different restaurants and food outlets, both inside and outside (near the beach). There are also a good number of pools and a reasonable area of beach to relax at. With all this being said, it is so large that it is very easy to feel completely anonymous for the whole time you are there. There is a general feeling of being another number - from the generic check-in speech (the highlight of which was being told that the mini-bar is weight sensitive and if you move anything you will be charged!) to the 40 minutes it took to get some ice delivered to the room. The daily charge of around $100 for the 'resort fees' seems quite a lot, though does at least include access to the on-site waterpark (otherwise $165 per person, per day!). Food will cost upwards of $30 per person (for a light meal) and $70 per person (for a more regular meal). You are encouraged to use your digital wristbands for payments (that will add the cost to your room), though cards are generally accepted too. Overall, it's a good place to stay if you are looking for somewhere that you don't need to leave the resort and have a varied selection of food options. If you like quiet, personalised service, this is probably not for you.

We found SLS Baha Mar as a great place to spend our vacation in Bahamas. Friendly personnel, modern place with spacious rooms and well planned layout of the resort. The beach is beautiful, well equipped and spacious, with white sand, without seaweeds. Wide variety of restaurants, bars and a less expensive pizza and Starbucks shops. We were unlucky with shows or other entertainment, but watched the basketball games in convention centre attached. Overall pleasant experience.
