The breakfast at the partnering facility was bland, cold, overpriced, and odd flavored. The room was too small for two people to stay longer than a night. Even with those points, the staff was super accommodating, kind, generous and prompt, and seemed to enjoy their jobs. There wasn’t a single staff member I encountered over 3 days who did not greet me with a smile and offer to do whatever they could to make my stay enjoyable. Housekeeping, reception, and bag check made my stay enjoyable. I would stay again.

The Civillian is a nicely refurbished hotel close to all New York has to offer. The room was a bit small & the elevator a tad slow & cramped. While the room was small it was nice. The staff could not have been nicer. A great find only minutes from Times Square.

Such a cute spot. Everything was perfectly decorated and the staff was helpful and friendly. Very close to everything you want to see in the city. It had a modern Gen Z who loves the 1920’s vibe.

staff was mostly very friendly. Room was clean and modern. The light in the bathroom would not turn on without having a master switch on, which was near the room entrance which made it a little difficult using bathroom during the night. Other guests were noisy late at night. The TV did not work but turned off. When I followed the screen's directions on how to use it, it shut itself off. I did not feel the number of texts they sent me during my stay was necessary. The text asking me to specify when I would check out could have been worded more as a reminder about checkout time.

The stay was nice. Went to the roof top lobby to get a drink before dinner. Service was terrible! Bartender was not waiting on anyone and just crossed his arms without any response to our order. We left!

Disappointed. For a 4 star hotel and price point I was expecting more. Pro’s: Location is good, staff is friendly and the hotel design is cool. Roof top restaurant was also nice. Con’s: Room was extremely small, even by NY standards. No closet or hanging space, there was literally ONE drawer. Music in the hotel bar is super loud, which makes it difficult to sleep before 2am. The cherry on top for me was that the “included basis housekeeping” was a clean set of towels and throwing out the trash. The bed wasn’t even made, forget about a change of sheets or a clean bathroom. You needed to pay extra for that, which for a $300 plus a night I didn’t appreciate. In short, there are plenty of other hotels in the area and at a similar price point that offer more spacious, clean and quiet rooms.
