Nice complex with well tendered gardens and nice rooms. Pool area was undergoing restoration. So compromised experience. Also meant some of the restaurants with views were closed. Second pool was large and enjoyable. Breakfast was also manic. Plenty of sunbeds around. Beach pool bar was small but nice. Beach was white sand and relatively empty. Main public beach was fun in the evenings. Best bars were on the beach. No worthwhile bars along the main strip. Local restaurant quality wasn’t great. More street fare. Chinese food restaurants were better quality and cleanliness than the Malay ones. Unnecessary amount of jet skis for hire on the public beach. No paddleboards or kayaks for gentler enjoyment. Nighttime fire shows on the beach (free) were great. Booked “Island view” resort accommodation. Room overlooked the beach. View was terrible. Changed up to sea view. They have placed a 200m long 2m dia sandbag along the seashore edge on the island view stretch of shore to stop the sand washing away. An eyesore and you can’t go in the sea. No commentary on this in the brochure. A real disappointment. Resort was like stepping back in time. Cabs were great. “Grab” taxis everywhere. Get one from the airport only £5. Grab to cable car also cheap and lots available for return journey. Cab office at airport was super-expensive and charged £25 for the 10-minute ride.

Fine, but not 5 star
This resort, unfortunately, is just not worthy of 5 stars. There wasn't any one particular issue or problem, but many little things that added up during our 10 nights to warrant a disappointing stay. It is just lacking that certain something that wouldn't matter if the hotel was less than 4 stars. Especially considering the price. Check-in was chaotic. We arrived after the 3pm time, but still had to wait for an hour (with many other guests) while rooms were prepared. I heard others complaining after long flights. In our room, the fixtures and fittings were shabby (not even chic) and a bit outdated. Yes, they are ultimately glorified beach huts, but we've stayed in similar properties in Asia, and around the world, that managed to fit doors properly, provided a safe (had to request) and bathrobes, and had a floor that didn't bounce when you walked. In such a resort, you expect the room to be cleaned properly. The bedding wasn't changed for 5 days, and the bathroom was not exactly spotless. One of the pools was under (major site) construction, but we were only informed of this 2 weeks before arriving, so there was no opportunity to book elsewhere. The staff aren't very guest-focused - they seem to be more there for themselves (although Burton is fantastic). Bad weather knocks out the wifi. Lobby toilets were filthy. I could go on...but some positives: grounds are nice, it's quiet (away from the main drag) but close enough to restaurants, and the wildlife is plentiful.

Overall, the stay was great. However, there are some key points that were not mentioned to us before booking. One is that there is very loud and inconvenient renovations happening in the heart of the resort which made the stay quite uncomfortable since the lobby and the breakfast was facing directly at it. And second which matters quite a bit was that there was an ant problem near the kettle and light switch area which was resolved eventually but it took some time to get the staff to come and exterminate the problem, over 1.5 hrs to be exact. Last but not least, the walls and floors are paper thin. This applies to everywhere around the resort including breakfast time. You hear every creek and cough and sneeze, as well as animals barking and screaming in the middle of the night. As well as planes flying on top of your room. I know this is beyond the resorts capacity to fix, but they could’ve invested in thicker walls. Overall, good.

Very impressive customer service. Entire hotel complex (rooms/pool/dining/spa) were excellent. Ideal beach-side location.

This was a fantastic resort - highly recommend. We were beachfront so close to all amenities and restaurants/bars in the evening. A couple of areas for improvement. The bed for the third person in our party was very uncomfortable and at times the service in Pelangi Grill could have been better. Other than that, a fantastic stay.

The entire stay was great and staff were warm and always greeted you with smiles. There was easy access to the private beach which was the highlight of our trip. The only issue we had was having cockroaches in our room probably because we were on the ground floor. Note that the main pool is currently closed for renovation till Oct'24.

The quiet tranquil atmosphere. Clean and safe. Its own private beach was amazing to have. Great service with buggies to transport you around due to its size and layout. Amazing breakfast Options something for everyone. Only down side was the building work to improve the facilities to the smaller pool however this didn’t really affect our stay as we were the furthest away from the noise. Short walk to the lively beach and town area.
