The property is nice and located in a great area but this is not a luxury hotel or experience at all. We were given a room on the top floor and the elevator was broken the whole time we were there. We also had to carry our own suitcases up the stairs. Lastly, part of why I booked this hotel was because it had a gym but it was not air conditioned and there were no wipes to wipe down equipment. Even when I asked for them, they were never brought down which is disgusting. I wouldnā€™t stay there again.

Great location and lovely historic building
Location was perfect and renovation of this lovely historic building (was a convent years ago) in to a hotel was nicely done. Room was spacious and comfortable with a great view out over the church square.

The staff was very friendly and responsive when we made requests. The hotel is located in a very convenient location and the best part of the Viejo San Juan. The beds and pillows are comfortable and the room is well suited for a good night sleep. Josantonio the office manager was excellent and provided incredible service!

The bed sheet is in very wet condition, and the floor next to our room begins construction from early morning which makes huge noice. The sleeping experience is poor.

Staying at El Convento in the Old San Juan area was definitely the best decision we could have made for our short trip in the Island. If you want to experience the historic and beautiful Old San Juan vibe, I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. This hotel is absolutely perfect for couples as it is a very romantic and appealing property. The rooms are very well kept while maintaining the charm of the historic building. Because of our short trip, we did not get to try any of the dining options, however, these looked great. Some of our favorite aspects of our stay was our Superior Queen Deluxe Room, rooftop view and pool and complimentary coffee and water for guests every morning. They also have complimentary wine&cheese tastings every evening. The property is a great location to walk around Old San Juanā€™s iconic landmarks. We did not have to walk more than 12 minutes to get to everything. Of note, Uber is the main method of transportation for outside the Old SJ area (quick Uber to the beach) recommended as the historic city does not have as much parking space. Be aware that the hotel is a great location for weddings and other events. Because of the building layout, you will probably be able to hear the music if there are events going on in the hotel. Despite of this being noticeable for us, it did not impair our ability to sleep and relax but itā€™s worth noting.

Worth every penny if you want to enjoy Viejo San Juan. Staff was always willing to help and provide suggestions if needed. The hotel is one of a kind in architecture and decor with restaurants and a bar in the courtyard. No complaints and would love to visit again!

The history of the hotel is very unique. It is very well located with easy walking distance to El Morro, the port, restaurants and shopping. The staff is courteous and responsive. My only issue is service at the hotel restaurant is incredibly slow, it took a full 2 hours for breakfast. Perhaps it was just a bad day. I would stay at El Convento again.

Beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The elevators were not working to our floor so we needed help carrying our luggage. Parking is non existent, so we had to drive around and thankfully found a parking garage with available parking space. The parking is a little difficult to find if you drive your own car and or go on a popular time of year. The hotel overall is a beautiful place, and very clean and you can literally walk everywhere from there.

Excellent time during Tropical Storm Ernesto
Awesome experience every time. Polite & professional staff, from front desk to housekeeping to wait staff and even the gardeners! This stay we experienced for first time a tropical storm(Ernesto) while at El Convento. We were very fortunate to be there. The back up power generator kicked on automatically & it was like the power never went. For this reason and watching news about power loss & floods, we stayed extra night, comfortably. Excelente! šŸ‘

Upon check out we wanted to go to the pool area and were denied access. Restaurant is ok as main restaurant closed down. We were denied late check out after we were told to call the morning of check out. Room was amazing
