Overpriced for a tired and drab room
Overpriced . The location and surroundings are great and this hotel clearly takes advantage of that when marketing itself and then providing substandard tired and dated rooms. The rooms are desperate for renovation and by the looks of them have been for the last 20 years. The bathroom was old and of low standard no luxury at all. The carpets were covered in stains , the tap was leaking , the bathroom fan was noisy and the bedroom furniture looked like it was about 50 years old , Plus they gave me a room with the view of a ladder that looked like it was the emergency route down and a wall so that wasn’t even pleasant . The bed was comfortable but the room was drab and un-inviting . Check out is also really early - 10.30 am. Such a shame as this could have been a lovely hotel to stay in but unless you have to I’d find some where else to stay

This is a small castle-style state that has had modern rooms added onto the back. The staff we interacted with were very good, but the property including restaurant, bar, and check in desk were very understaffed. The night we were there, there was a prom, wedding, hen-dos, etc. It was very rowdy and service took a long time anywhere we interacted with the hotel staff, so we did not notice some of the beautiful aspects of the grounds until the next morning when we were driving off property. It was a good stay, but if you are looking for a “castle” experience, you may way to consider this place but expand your search as well. Rooms were very spacious.

Lovely place to stay
Very beautiful castle with lovely grounds. I was able to check in early and the staff were very friendly. The rooms are big and have everything needed. There was a bit of wear and tear in the room (carpet and shower tiles) but other than that no problems.

WONDERFUL HOTEL
We stayed at this lovely hotel. After a stressful couple of days at a family funeral. It was great to step back from it all and chill before our onward journey. We will probably be back that way some time soon so we will be choosing to stay there again. A warm and welcoming family run hotel. My brother will be bringing his clubs next time for a round of golf

Relaxation break.
The hotel grounds are certainly impressive and extensive. The staff were first class helpful and friendly. Particularly the girl in the bar who went out of her way to get us exactly the drinks we wanted. The bedroom was a let down. Old fashioned Couldn’t see in the mirror when I sat down. The wardrobe was a joke. Beds were comfy. The bathroom we considered dangerous. Firstly there should be a grab rail to help in the night because of the step. The water was scalding and we reported our experience.

First time here - usually stay at chain hotel. Great accommodation, friendly staff, nice bar/restaurant. Much beget value for money than the chain hotel.

went to bistro for food at 8pm ordered food had curry which was excellent had a pint went to get another pint just after 8.30pm and was told they were closed no warning given as i wanted another pint only disappointment. Went to reception asked about gym and was told it would cost £10 as I did not book through them it was not on the booking website about paying for gym again very dissapointed as i could have gone elsewhere and had free pass to gym
