The property was very run down. The room we stayed in had poor lighting and doors didn’t close right. When we checked out they had charged us a few fees that was never explained to us. Overall very expensive for a run down property.

Had an excellent short (5 day) escape here. As we were a couple, the resort suggested we pay to upgrade to the adults-only Reef Wìng. This was a great idea, good room, beautiful view, quiet. It has its own lobby, lovely staff. Good snorkelling, many other activities, huge grounds. Many restaurants, breakfast quite good, but other food not great. Good options outside the resort, easy to get a taxi. Would go back

Lovely tranquil, beautiful location on the Coral Coast, about an hour from the airport. Warm and caring staff as you come to expect in Fiji, they love children, especially babies. We stayed at the Reef Wing, the adults only section, the Cocktail Hour was a huge disappointment, (we based our expectations from our experiences at the Rassa Wing of the Penang Shangri La). The cocktails were more mocktails, my wife had 4 and in normal circumstances 2 would be her limit. She really noticed the difference from the cocktails we bought elsewhere during our holiday. They're more than happy to walk around offering their choice to the two cocktails of the night but if you wanted something else then you might get served two in the cocktail hour. Once you ordered something different they tended to take a wide berth of you, very disappointing. As the Reef Wing is on the coastal side of the island it wasn't as sheltered from the wind as the main part of the resort which is facing the mainland and the causeway. The pool was quite cold for September, a small investment of solar heating might make the pool more inviting, only a handful of people used it, it was too cold for nearly all the guests which isn't a good thing. The main pool was much warmer. I found the food was nice if you stuck to the basics, cakes and muffins just missed the mark though. Their Asian restaurant food was quite bland which for me impacted on our overall experience. Summing up I wouldn't stay here again.

It was my 3rd stay at this hotel but the last time i was there was 20 years ago. It hasnt changed very much. More activities and the place is well maintained, clean and safe. I cant say that the rooms have been updated to 5 star standard, however very clean and beds were comfortable. It was worthwhile upgrading to a grand deluxe room as it felt like a studio apartment with a wonderful courtyard like patio area overlooking the ocean/reef. Value for money and great for families. It was hard to get a sunbed at the main pool, but the second pool next to Takali bar was a winner! The lagoon swim is always the best and the water was much warmer than the pool. Food was mostly good, with enough choice but be sure to book for dinner early!

Shangri-la is starting to show its age. Last time we stayed here was in 2019. This time around we stayed in a reef buree which was nice, but in need of a renovation. I won’t be coming back until this place has had a makeover.

Magic location, fantastic staff, great breakfast restaurant meals good at best, improvements to 9 hole golf course very evident, facilities and infrastructure generally showing their age. Shangri-La ( The Fijian) was once the jewel in the crown of tourist accommodation in Fiji. Sadly the toll of time is increasingly evident. There is only so much that refurbishments can achieve.
