Tamarama Beach
Fantastic views from all angles, crystal clear waters and talented surfers make this beach a perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by.
Tamarama Beach is popular as a surf beach for its huge waves and inviting waters. It is fairly small, nestled between two headlands, which you can climb up to get the best views. Take your time to enjoy the stunning views that make Tamarama Beach so special.
Watch from a vantage point high up on the cliff as surfers catch waves. Join in if you’re an experienced surfer. Wander around the tide pools that surround the beach and see what sea creatures you can find. The tide pools are small and warm, so they’re also nice to bathe in.
Wander along the shoreline and feel the cool water lap around your ankles. The waters of Tamarama Beach are known to be quite rough, so it is not the best place for swimming. If you do swim, make sure there is a lifeguard on duty and stay between the flags.
Walk along the coastal path to have breathtaking views of the coastline. Many other beaches nearby are within reasonable walking distance, such as neighbouring Bondi Beach and Bronte Beach. These beaches are both safe for swimming. Bronte Beach is very family-friendly.
Tamarama Beach has all necessary facilities including showers, toilets and running water. Use the grassy area behind the beach as a good spot to rest or have a picnic. There is also a café, which is always a nice place to stop for an iced coffee.
The best way to reach Tamarama Beach is to walk along the path from Bondi. This very scenic route is less than 1.2 kilometres long and takes about 25 minutes to complete. Bondi Beach has great public transportation connections. Use the regular bus connections to Tamarama Beach from Bondi Junction Station. There is no parking lot here so if you drive you will have to find a spot on the street.
Stop by and see why Tamarama Beach has been a favourite among Sydney-siders for decades. The incredible views alone make the visit worth doing.
