Find adventure sports, breathtaking mountain scenery and wildlife at Lake Louise Ski Resort. Ski on challenging trails, enjoy a scenic gondola ride or hike through forests seeking wildlife. The resort is within Banff National Park, part of the Canadian Rockies. It offers over 4,200 acres (1,670 hectares) of skiable terrain, exquisite dining and lively après-ski entertainment.
Ride the chairlifts to the mountaintop and tackle the resort’s 145 runs, a good mix of beginner to double black diamond. Trails include bowls, chutes and gullies suitable for both skiing and snowboarding. Take lessons with enthusiastic and qualified instructors. Explore the silent mountain wilderness on backcountry, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing tours. Experience the excitement of a snow tube ride, an ideal family activity. The ski season runs from November to May.
Opportunities for adventure abound in the summer months, too. Ride the sightseeing gondola to 6,850-foot-tall (2,088-meter) Mount Whitehorn. Follow hiking trails through fields of colorful alpine flowers to glaciers and towering peaks. Search for grizzly bears on a safely guided walk. Look for deer, wolves and endemic birdlife. Alternatively, paddle through rapids on a white-water rafting trip on the Kicking Horse River.
Learn about the history, flora and fauna of Banff National Park at the Wildlife Interpretive Centre. Following a busy day of activities, relax at the resort’s bars and restaurants. Sit by a roaring log fire in winter or enjoy al fresco summer dining. Time your visit to attend special events, such as April’s Spring Music Sessions.
The resort is a 1-hour drive from Banff and 1.5 hours from Calgary. Buses connect the resort with Banff, Calgary and Edmonton. A free shuttle bus links to hotels in the village of Lake Louise. On-site parking is available if you’re arriving by car. Pay the Banff National Park entrance fee for ski area access.
Visit Lake Louise Ski Resort’s official website for details about activity prices, ski passes, equipment rentals, lessons and information on winter and summer vacation packages. Consider a Tri-Area pass that adds in Mount Norquay and Sunshine Village. Stop to see nearby glacial Moraine Lake while you’re in the Banff area.
