Lake Rotoiti
Getting to the water’s edge is a bit tricky here, but a little bit of pain is worth all the gain of seeing Lake Rotoiti’s unspoiled nature.
The pristine landscape of Lake Rotoiti is its biggest attraction. Not only does the lake have scenic hot pools, but also clear waters for fishing and boating and forested shores for hiking. There is a catch though: the steep, tree-covered slopes of the St. Arnaud Range form a great backdrop, but also limit easy access to the water’s edge. And if you want to see the lake’s tranquil thermal springs, on the shores of Manupirua Bay, you’ll need to organise a boat.
