West Coast
Sandy beaches. Tick. Awesome cliffs and blowholes. Tick. Lush rainforests, mighty mountains and cool glaciers. All a big tick. West Coast New Zealand has it all.
The Great Coast Road from Westport to Greymouth on New Zealand’s South Island is like a gift that keeps on giving. Simply known as “The Coast”, this rugged, remote and under-explored region surprises at every turn. The aptly named pancake rocks at Punakaiki, the Franz Josef and Fox glaciers and Mount Aspiring National Park alone are reason enough to make the trip, the promise of fresh seafood is another.
