Back Beach
Bask in the sun at this long golden beach beside the South China Sea, where you can take a break from the noisy streets of Vung Tau.
Lie back and relax on Back Beach, considered by many to be Vung Tau’s most beautiful long stretch of sand. Swim in the warm waters and learn to ride the waves with a kite surfing or windsurfing lesson.
One of four beaches in Vung Tau, Back Beach has everything you need for a day’s recreation, with good restaurants and cafés, watersports rentals and beach chairs and umbrellas for rent. You can even take a dip in freshwater baths if you feel the need to wash the saltwater away.
The beach is popular with local residents and tourists alike so you may want to get there early to ensure the best place on the sand. Arrive in time to have a local breakfast of fruit juice and banh khot (savory pancakes with prawns) at one of the beachside hotels.
Settle in and enjoy reading, swimming in the warm ocean or dropping off to sleep to the soothing sound of the waves. If you are looking for entertainment, the beach is almost always busy with local residents. Join in a game of beach soccer or strike up a conversation at one of the beach bars.
For some excitement, head to the Vung Tau Surf Station. Here, learn to kitesurf or windsurf under the guidance of a professional instructor. Experienced boarders will want to make the most of the afternoons when the wind is strongest.
After a day on the sand or in the water, stroll along the boardwalk that lines the beach. Stop at one of the many restaurants lining the path and enjoy your dinner while watching stunning sunset views.
Back Beach stretches out in front of the town between Small Mount and Paradise Park. Occasional petty theft has been reported.
