Staff were courteous and friendly. Building works were in progress. Stair railing was wobbly. Last step of decending stairway was uneven causing misstep. Curtain on the window did not blockout the light. Window couldn't be opened as street noise was clearly heard.

Rats in the ceiling! My husband, two daughters and I traveled 12 hours by car to Hahndorf to celebrate my 50th Birthday the start of November 2024 and stayed at the Old Mill Hotel. We quickly discovered that the place was far from what was advertised, with Rats running and scratching all night in the ceiling we hardly got any sleep. In the morning we discovered a hole in the plaster and Urin stains as well. After complaining to the staff they send someone to fix the hole, at least the rats couldn’t fall onto us in the middle of the night! According to the staff they were fully booked out, so we stayed 3 of the 4 nights in the ‘Rat’ room. I also should mention the mould in the shower, the corroded dripping tap in the bathroom, the dead bugs on the window seal, the dirty stained blankets in the cupboard and the antenna half hanging of the roof with only 2 TV channels. After calling 10 days in a row and sending emails, I have not been contacted by the owner or staff about my complaint. Spending over $1000 for 4 nights I must say it was the worst place I ever stayed with the worst customer service EVER.

Facade looks amazing but interior rooms need some attention. Stair railing is unsafe bolts are out and landing feels like you are about to go through the floor. The bed was awful and pillows paper thin. Get what you pay for I guess.

As an older married couple accompanied by our adult daughter the facilities available at the The Old Mill were ideal for our stay in Hahndorf. They were clean and comfortable and served our purposes extremely well. The staff were always polite and efficient and contributed to our our totally enjoyable stay. Very disappointed with room 203. On entry could only smell a wet musty smell. Carpets should be removed, disgusting. Bathroom ceiling heater/exhaust fat was nearly falling out of the roof with a open hole jnto the ceiling. The skimpy curtains didnt shut out any light and there wad a spotlight flickering outside all night. Furniture was old & daggy. Fridge was noisy. Won't return again. So disappointing.

The bed "teetered" atop a too small ensemble base. It constantly moved making me feel like i was falling out of bed. Too low to the ground. Furniture needs burning as does the carpet. Id be ashamed to charge more than $30 for these rooms. A 1 out of 5 rating is even too much. Terrible.
