Book your Bandung holiday
Bandung Holiday Packages
Bandung is the capital of West Java Province on Java Island, Indonesia’s most populated region.
The Dutch nicknamed it “The Paris of Java,” although with its surroundings of rolling mountains, colourful markets and uniquely Asian food scene, some might say it’s much more vibrant! Discover a new favourite city with our Bandung holiday packages.
Things to Do in Bandung
Bandung may be a big city, but this metropolis is also a surprising outdoor playground. Bandung holidays are chockablock with volcanoes, craters, waterfalls and caves to explore. “Hollow” out some time in your schedule to explore the Gua Pawon caves northwest of the city centre. It’s just a 20-minute hike up Mount Masigit to this unique and historic site. In prehistoric times, the area was covered by a vast sea—you’ll find seashells embedded in the rocks, even though you’re high above sea level. Look into our Bandung car hire options on Wotif to make the short trip to this strange and wonderful world.
Need to take a load off? You’ll feel like you’re cruising the streets of London when you hop on the “Bandros,” the city’s open-air, double-decker UK-style tour buses. See the impressive neo-classical architecture of the governor’s mansion, Gedung Sate, and the neo-Gothic Bandung Cathedral. Hop off at Jalan Braga and experience the European feel of its stylish cafes and boutiques—for a minute, you may forget you’re on holiday in Bandung!
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
Bandung has some of the best shopping around, so we hope you brought your credit card! Just north of downtown you’ll find the city’s largest indoor-outdoor mall, the Cihampelas Walk (or CiWalk for short). Step off crowded Jalan Cihampelas into this futuristic-looking complex and you’ll find not only top brands, but also nightclubs, an arcade and a movie theatre, not to mention every type of food imaginable.
However, there is one reason to leave CiWalk: bona fide, Southeast Asian street food—delish! If you’re looking for the real deal when it comes to dining, head south to Jalan Burangrang to find vendors, cafes and hole-in-the-wall restaurants filled with expats and locals. Any Bandung holiday also has to include themed restaurants, which are huge in Indonesia. And why wouldn’t they be? You can dine aboard a ship, in the rainforest, in a dollhouse or with zombies!
When it comes to nightlife, you can go classy or, well, not-so-classy. The hills above the city, for example the Dago Atas neighbourhood, have some of the most upscale lounges and nightclubs in Indonesia, with striking views of the city lights below. If you spent all your cash at CiWalk, though, you can head to Jalan Braga for karaoke, pool and local beers on the cheap. And if you really want a crazy, no-holds-barred experience, consider adding on to your Indonesia getaway with Wotif’s Bali holiday packages.
