Shalom Retreat.

Enjoy a stay in the cottage in the big woods! The lane leading to it winds a half mile back from the road. This place will be a highlight because of everything from the spacious yard surrounded with woods, kitchen fully stocked with dishes, open, cozy living room and cute bedrooms. It is a family friendly place including a Foosball table, board games and toys. Also has a picnic table and backyard fire pit (firewood included) or you can choose to grill your favorites on the covered back porch. This cottage is only 30 minutes from Granite Peak, Rib Mountain, Wausau, and Cedar Rapids. It’s in a friendly, small neighborhood. Ice Age trail access points are within a couple miles. Only 7 miles away from Birnamwood, which includes a gas station, Dollar General, and Chet and Emil's which has a restuarant and bowling. Chet and Emil's have made Birnamwood famous for their broasted chicken. Only a 12 minute drive from Norrie Lake and Mayflower Lake which provides boating, fishing and swimming options. The Plover River (a trout stocked river) winds thru the woods behind the house in the DNR land. Also including a spring fed pond. Or enjoy the Mountain Bay biking trail which is only 7 miles from Shalom Retreat. The Eau Claire Dells Park is only 6 miles away where you can hike, swim, and enjoy the outdoors. For a winter activity, visit Sylvan Hill in Wausau for some great family snow tubing! Also Granite Peak for snowboarding and skiing! Great place
We spent one night here after attending the Birds in Art exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau (great show!). We didn't arrive until well after dark, but it was relatively easy to find if you pay attention to the house signs. Easy to access, well stocked, comfortable beds, big kitchen table, coffee in the morning. Everything was great - we would definitely stay here again.

Nature Getaway
Extended family all joined together to celebrate birthdays, and just get away. We loved the big yard, picking fresh raspberries for our breakfast, the fire pit, excellent coffee bar, and more. Having the dog stay with us was- major bonus-as he was thrilled to have his “pack” all under one roof. The host was great at communication, and even let us stay a couple extra hours to get one more hike and fishing trip in. We appreciated the ample supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, etc).we would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful retreat near hiking trails
We loved this property. We had 5 adults and 2 kids, 7 and 10 years old. One of the adults and the 2 kids hung out at the house while 4 of us hiked many miles of the Ice Age Trail. The kids joined us for a few miles at the Dells of the Eau Claire and then went back to the property to play and hang out. We had a fire in the fire ring, played croquet, and ladder golf. The house was immaculate. Highly recommended!

Great getaway with teenagers!
The property was perfect for my spouse, our teenage son and some of his friends, and our dog! The boys had planned to tent in the yard for all four nights of our stay, but due to rainstorms, they slept in the cabin for two. There was plenty of space for this. The boys also enjoyed the yard games and making campfires, while my spouse and I enjoyed the serenity of the setting. Everything was clean and organized, and we had everything we needed. We'd definitely stay again!

Great spot for a quiet stay
We were in town to visit family and this was a great option for three generations to be under one roof! The yard provided lots of fun for badminton and watching wild life. Plenty of toys for our 11 month old! The house had great amenities and the linens were so soft! Location was great - close to the Eau Claire Dells and just a short drive to Wausau. The host was quick to respond and very kind. We'll definitely be staying here again on our next visit!

Our family stayed there over a weekend. It’s a lovely and clean home. The owners made sure that everything that we could possibly need is there. They also left clear instructions on how to check out. Great getaway
Perfect for my sister and I to meet with our families so we could celebrate a belated Christmas! Plenty of room to gather. Kitchen had everything we needed for dishes and glassware- coffee bar a bonus for coffee and hot chocolate in the morning. I would definitely go back!

Great for a winter ski get away
This is our third time staying here for a winter ski get away and always have an amazing time. All the amenities you need and plenty of space for 6 of us. Only 25 to Granite Peak/Rib Mt. Love grilling out on the gas grill and plenty of room at the table for all to play games.

Property was clean and well maintained. We used the property as a base camp for hunting and spent most of our time away during the day. There was also several inches of snow on the ground at the time. Having said all that the property is fairly remote with a nice yard, fire pit and playground equipment. With better weather we would have enjoyed the fire pit and the county feel of the property. The property was well stocked with everything you need.
