Dead bug knocked me into another room
I found a dead bug under the mattress in my original room, but I was able to get a different room instead. Both rooms were dirty in the corners, but not bad enough to leave. It was okay for just a spot to sleep as a single man driving through.

A Surprising Treasure in the Heartland
Our second stay over the years. Avery very nice 2+ property! To me, a treasure in the state of Illinois. Quiet and clean with above average amenities. Room 103 is an accessible room on a quiet corner of the property. Large bathroom with sink area separate from bath. Bed was very comfortable, towels plush and room quiet on the outskirts of Vandalia. Breakfast offered both hot and cold items an many items offered. Check-in was quick, reception was warm and very professional.

The shower was backed up with dirt coming out of the drain, there was no water pressure from the sink, the ac wouldn’t shut and the dish network went out. I’ve stayed here a few times and it was never like this.

I made a mistake and reserved a King suite, smoking room. (My first Expedia reservation.) It was a non-refundable room. My husband is allergic to tobacco smoke. He is 6’3 and we had travelled all day. The desk clerk had another King room but would not give it to us without charging us $20 additional (it had a jacuzzi tub). He did however, offer us a cheaper room (2 full size beds), but said he couldn’t give us a refund. We ended up taking the smoking room. The lamp next to the bed could had no “plug.” The pillows were so small, the size you would find on a couch (12x12). The blanket cover was stained, as was the blanket underneath and one of the bath towels. The living room of the suite had a dingy looking couch and a wooden table with a chunk out of the corner. The air conditioner in the bedroom side was so loud we couldn’t leave it on to sleep. So, not a great first experience for us. The bathroom appeared newer and did seem clean. The floor had newer looking vinyl tile, no carpet.
