The property Inn Keeper was very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately for them, they had a tenant run over a bathtub on the top floor which spilled down into the room we had reserved. They gave us a different room and accommodated our 3rd person party with a slight upcharge for a second room for the inconvenience. The room smelled musty but I feel that this will be resolved quickly as we came on a Monday and the issue occurred over the weekend. Sheets and bedding was clean and sanitized. Towels and wash cloths were clean. The soap provided was lovely lavender Vermont soap. Please note: there are no elevators or ramps for luggage. We hauled our suitcases up the stairs. One of us had back surgery and this made things difficult. Another lady who was a senior citizen was in the lobby pulling out items bc she couldn’t get her suitcase up. When asked, Jean at the front desk stated, “any abled-body person would not have any trouble navigating the stairs.” I’m pretty sure she is gone soon as the rest of the staff was friendly and helpful..Jose at breakfast was delightful and the food was extremely good with homemade bread used for toast. Quite lovely view as well. All in all it was a good stay.

Still a Perfect New England Gem
From start to finish, this was a great stay. We arrived in time to enjoy a bottle of champagne (which we brought along) seated on the front porch of the entrance. We were pleased to open our room #4 door to a room in the hotel proper, which was large, very clean, bright and sunny. The bathroom has been recently updated with an enormous shower/tub with a radiant heat floor. Toasty warm feet on a chilly fall morning! The breakfast included in the price of the room was beyond expectation, and we were seated in the glassed in atrium portion of the restaurant. The coffee and eggs were excellent, and the service was attentive.

A comfortable, spacious room and bath, and a lovely setting for breakfast. However, portions of the breakfast were overcooked on all 3 mornings. The property has some condition problems: the steps in front of the Comstock House are deteriorating, and the driveway to it is eroding and full of potholes.

Great rooms but the airconditioning is loud and sounds like an airplane in the room. The restaurant is limited and very expensive. No room service but breakfast was an awesome experience and free with room.

The gardens to the East of the glassed in sun porch where we enjoyed breakfast for two mornings are very attractive and obviously well cared for. The sun room itself was an enjoyable setting for breakfast. The staff members were all extremely pleasant and seemed quite happy to be working there. Our room in the adjacent building at the very back of the property was very spacious. The bathroom even has a jacuzzi tub besides a spacious walk-in shower. We had a wonderful visit. Our room was very elegant and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful with flowers and well kept shrubs all around. We had dinner at the inn restaurant. It was delicious, breakfast was most enjoyable too.

Staff was very nice, eager to please and hard-working. Food was excellent and service in restaurant was generally very good. Property needs some TLC however. These are ownership issues and not day-to-day management concerns: Torn wallpaper stairwell wall and landing. Dim wall light in hallway to room. Non-functioning smoke detector in hallway ceiling. No fire extinguisher in 2nd floor hallway (bracket was empty). Mattress saggy. No tea/coffee in room.
