Halsted House is a lovely home with design comfort in a gated community located between Highlands and Cashiers. Outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, golfing, and local lakes are within driving distance. Our family really enjoyed our stay – fresh, crisp mountain air, lots of day hikes (Rainbow Falls was a favorite), golfing, shopping, boating, and dining (Lake Toxaway Club, The Orchard, Wild Thyme, Wolfgang, etc), spa treatments at Greystone Inn (ask for Patty, best masseuse ever). Slept in luxury with the windows open every night, fortunately no rain showers which are normal for this time of year. We have been coming to the area for many summers to escape the heat and love it when we find a well-designed home that helps us relax upon arrival! Whitney, the owner, is very helpful and communicated any and all property nuances to expect – trash service is not provided, but SRCs (staffed recycle centers) are convenient enough in both driving directions; recent mama bear and cub sightings are a reminder to keep all food/trash stored securely in the house until eaten/disposed; windows work well; doors can be tricky, but we had no real issues. The kitchen is well-equipped, very clean home with nice bed and bath linens, comfortable den and living room for reading, watching tv, playing games, outdoor deck with gas grill, and separate screened porch off adjacent bedroom suite. Loved the MoLekule air filters provided, too!
Note: Lake Toxaway Club, like almost all clubs in the area, is private, but Greystone Spa is open to the public.
