About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Unique Historical log cabin with private beach and 300 ft. of waterfrontage.

A big thank you to all of our 2023 five star guests! We have two person canoe, two one person kayaks, and two paddle boards for your use. Also, The Old Log Cabin has a smart TV, so that you can mirror streaming services from your smart phone. In addition, COMCAST WIFI and streaming, fast speed internet, great reception.
You will step back in time when you stay at this preserved historic log house (circa 1790). The old log house is now equipped with a galley kitchen that has an electric stove, ref., sink, blender, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, and stacked washer/dryer. There is a dining area adjacent to the kitchen, as well as another on the lake front outside porch. The second room on the main floor is a living area with TV/DVD, futon, and hammock which is great for naps.

The second floor of the log home has a bath with pedestal sink, toilet, and bath tub. There are two bedrooms upstairs (one large bedroom with two twin beds and a queen bed; the second bedroom with a queen bed). Each bedroom has its own pedestal sink. But don't worry, this old log house now has central air conditioning and heat as well as a fireplace and wood stove downstairs!

This interesting and unique old log cabin is located on very private, wooded property and is geared to outdoor fun and living. In addition to the inside bathroom, there is an outdoor shower with hot/cold water. A covered outdoor cooking area with a 5 burner gas grill, under counter ref. and water is available for added convenience. If you prefer cooking out with charcoal or wood, there is also a lakeside fire pit and charcoal grill with water. The dock area is large, with a table, umbrella, slide, and rope swing. The beach is sandy and gently sloping which is great for small children. Also, two kayaks along with other lake toys are available for use. The fun won't stop when the sun goes down, because the dock, all cooking areas, and paths are well illuminated with outdoor lighting.

This property is located on a peninsula in a small community with a quiet private road that's great for family walks or jogging.

Thanksgiving with Family
My sister and I have an ongoing Thanksgiving tradition to get together on Thanksgiving weekend with our husbands. She lives in South Carolina and we live in Pennsylvania so Huddleston is almost the exact middle for both of us. My husband came across this cabin last minute and it could not have been more prefrontal suit our needs. I only wish it was warmer but we were quite content just hanging out and staying warm by the indoor fireplace. We will definitely be returning in the summer so that we can take advantage of the outdoor offerings. Great memories were made by all.

If you have never stayed in a real authentic log cabin, with just enough of today’s amenities, you might enjoy this. Great property and lake front, and a really neat vibe. We will definitely be back.

coolest place on the lake
The cabin/location/ is an amazing place to stay, furnished with everything you need and some and the cleanliness was exceptional. David the host (promptly) answered any questions I may have had about the place before my arrival. The outdoor area is awesome along with plenty of firewood for the fire pit. I also enjoyed the neighbor that played the bagpipes at 5pm every afternoon that we were there. Just an amazing place Thank you David.

As a history buff , a residence of Chester County, PA where William Penn had a profound influence in our state with many historic homes. My husband and I arrived and took a step back in time as we entered into the most well preserved piece of history carefully restored by the owner David. His attention to detail during the restoration is truly a love to preserve the past. Every amenity for modern living was available. If you LOVE to cook, there is an outdoor kitchen with gas grill plus sink, fridge, there is a fire pit near the lake and indoor modern kitchen. This special place is quiet, relaxing and provides renewed spirit , whether floating on the lake or watching the wonders of nature from the beautiful dock. At the end of your day, enjoy the outdoor hot/ cold shower under the night sky by candle light. Truly magical. Can’t wait to return.

This is the second time my husband and I stayed at Dave's cabin. We enjoyed it just as much this time. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed all of the outdoor spaces, including the gas grill, the fire ring, the dock, and the canoe. This is truly a special place with great vibes!

Quiet Getaway
Such a peaceful getaway for the fall. The house has everything we could possibly need. There’s a variety of kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes. Only had to pack food and clothes. Great location to Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Quiet street which was great for walking the dog. Absolutely loved hanging out on the covered porch. It was the perfect gathering spot for meals and playing games. It was also the dog’s favorite spot! Host was super nice and helpful!

Favorite every year
Peaceful, easygoing, they have thought of everything. The dock, the campfire area down by the river, the back covered porch, the covered grill at the smaller building, no matter where you are, if you think…I need “this”, you look around and “this” is right there, just where it should be. Yet, it still feels completely authentic. Don’t miss it! We will be back every year.

Absolutely Wonderful
It was a perfect setting for a much needed getaway and rest. Very well equipped with everything needed to enjoy ourselves. Husband asked if we could stay a couple of extra days-after checking it was already booked. I told him that we would be back. Had a great time fishing off the dock and just hanging around. And added surprise was the gentleman that played the bagpipes every evening a little after 5pm.....Amazing Grace. I being slightly physically handicapped the stairs were a little narrow but I managed and would still return and recommend such a wonderful place. A true gem among the giants......such a beautiful and natural setting. Run to book this historical cabin.
