Accommodation In Killarney

Head to Killarney, a gorgeous town with old world charm, nestled between the Queensland and New South Wales borders in the unspoiled country of the Great Dividing Range. Check out our Killarney accommodation and explore this historical town, one of the first to be settled on the Darling Downs in 1840. Throughout the town, you'll find quaint Queenslander houses and general stores with their grand original shopfronts, as well as tonnes of country fun.

Numerous historical photos and artefacts are preserved at the Killarney Heritage Centre. Once you've finished discovering the history of the town, there's plenty more to do in Killarney. Get up to Mt Colliery, the Border Ranges, Carrs Lookout and Teviot Falls Lookout, for some incredible panoramic views of the Darling Downs region. If you like feeling like the king (or queen) of the world, head to Wilsons Peak or Mt Superbus, the third-highest mountain in Queensland. For a fun day out, why not explore the villages of the Cedar Route scenic drive? There are lots of picnic spots along the way, as well as the World Heritage listed area of the Goomburra Valley, and the opportunity to kick that 4WD feature into gear. One of the most popular picnic locations in the area is Browns Falls Park. If you're patient, or an avid bird watcher, you might even spot the rare Spotted Tail Quoll.

Water babies will love the swimming options in and around Killarney. There's the local pool, Spring Creek and the Condamine River. If you're lucky, you might even see a platypus in the river! Landlubbers will enjoy cycling and golfing in Killarney. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the Spring Creek Mountain Cafe, which overlooks the Condamine River and dishes up contemporary Australian cuisine from an award-winning chef. On the first Sunday of the month, you can enjoy the community stalls, live music, local produce, coffee and playground at the Killarney Country Markets, right in the centre of town. There isn't much in the way of shopping in Killarney, apart from the general stores and the local art gallery, but it does boast the biggest St Vincent de Paul shop in Australia! If you really want to hit the shops, you might want to visit Warwick or Stanthorpe, which are both nearby. Warwick is known as the Rose and Rodeo City because of its flower shows and rodeos, but it also has lots of historical buildings and the Main Range National Park nearby is well-worth visiting. Stanthorpe is on the Granite Belt, and is well known for its gourmet food and wine.

Killarney is only two-and-a-half hours southwest of Brisbane. Public transport is extremely limited in town, so a car is needed to get to and around Killarney. Check out our cheap flights to Brisbane and hire a car at the airport. Now all that's left to do is book your Killarney hotel below!
